We are a no-kill, non-profit humane organization dedicated to rescuing the sick, injured, abused, abandoned and neglected animals of Fayette County.

Make a Difference… Volunteer!

It is so amazing when people come together for a good cause! Huge thanks to all of our volunteers that are fostering our babies. Laurie, Greg & family are fostering our 3 puff balls (Kahlua, Amaretto & Bourbon), Tammy is fostering two of the Australian Shepherd pups Athena & Electra and Red's mom is fostering Pandora. (Okay, yes I'm sure that Red's mom has a name but darned if I know it... she is just Red's wonderful mom!) And coming this Saturday Christy will also take a couple of our babies home for some extra TLC. We can't thank you enough for opening your homes and your hearts to these babies. The extra time, attention & love that you are providing will go a long way to socializing them and preparing them for a new forever home.

Our Rescues

New Arrivals

Oh my heavens... a week has gone by and no new animals. Hallelujah!

Adoptions
A fantastic weekend of adoptions!
 - Ivy is in a new home with a very sweet puppy to play with. She is doing great with the dog but very shy with the family. They are planning on spending a lot of time with her this week to try to get her to come out of her shell. Keep your fingers crossed that this adoption works out. Yes I'm completely biased but this little girl deserves the best.
 - Achilles, one of the Australian Shepherd puppies was adopted at Just Dogs Gourmet on Saturday.
 - Our bestus Festus has found a phenomenal new home with Daisy a lab and Bo a golden retriever / chow mix and their loving parents.
 - Cassandra, one of the Australian Shepherd pups, found a new home Sunday. She has been re-named Sophie since she apparently won't get off of their couch.
 - One of the Puff Ball puppies Bourbon has an adoption pending. We'll know by this weekend if she has found her forever home.

Shelter Updates

  • Ms. Piggy & 12 babies continue to do beautifully!

  • Our new holding pen area is being worked on. Thanks to a grant from Petco we will have a new 3 kennel holding pen area on concrete with a sidewalk running from the shelter.

Events

Our second "All Puppy Adoption Day" is scheduled for this Saturday at Petco Cordova from 8am (setup) to 3pm (teardown). It should be an easy day since we are only bringing puppies and cats but we could still use at least 2 more people.

Some of the Board members took a tour of the new Petsmart store today. The store is humongous and really wonderful inside. We have high hopes that we will have a lot of adoptions at this new store. The grand opening is Saturday 03/25/06 and we expect a large crowd. In addition, Petco Germantown is also scheduling some special events that day so we expect a good crowd there as well. If you an assist at either of these adoption events let me know.

We also have the opportunity to do an adoption March 26th at the new Petsmart store opening at Hacks Cross & Winchester. This is in addition to the adoption event on 03/25 at Petco and Petsmart. I know it's a lot but with all the puppies we have right now it is vital that we take every opportunity to find them homes while they are young.

Planning for our April 1st event continues. Please... if you can't volunteer at any other event, please assist with this one!

And finally, we have a garage sale scheduled for May 13th. As you start your spring cleaning please consider holding any items that we can sell to benefit our rescues. We will start collecting items at the shelter on 04/15 through 05/12.

Please check the schedule in the left border for all events click here to view our Volunteer Event Schedule. Let Laurie know which events you can help with. If you cannot make your scheduled event please let us know ahead of time so that we can find a replacement.
