We are a no-kill, non-profit humane organization dedicated to rescuing the sick, injured, abused, abandoned and neglected animals of Fayette County.

Make a Difference… Volunteer!

Just when you think that you can't get any fuller... We are now up to 104 animals. We started the year at 72 animals I think and that was quite a few so you can imagine how busy things are now. Unfortunately the snow storm one weekend and the ice storm the next did not do us any favors either with adoption days or fundraisers. So, we are trying to take every opportunity to get some of our puppies adopted. We currently have 12 puppies ready for adoption and 12 more just born a couple of days ago!

Red's mom is helping us out by fostering Pandora, one of the australian shepherd puppies and the Hoff family is going to foster a couple puppies for us as well. Thank you!! We have about 25 puppies at the shelter right now and it is imperative that we socialize them as much as possible. If you have a fenced in yard and would like to foster a puppy or two for a few weeks let me know. They will have to go to adoption days every Saturday but we can really make a difference in their entire lives with some extra attention in their prime development weeks.

For your reading pleasure... our February newsletter is available on our website under the News section.

Shelter Updates

  • Scotch is now back at the shelter after successfully completing his 3-week basic obedience boot camp.

  • Diamond is currently at Dogwoods for her 3-week training session.

Events

Because of the influx of puppies we have scheduled two "All Puppy Adoption Days" for March 4th and March 11th. The event March 4th is very small and we have enough volunteers, however we could use help for the March 11th adoption day at Petco in Cordova.

And finally we have 2 adoption events scheduled for March 25th. If you have a van or SUV that you can assist in transporting animals and adoption materials either in the morning (meet at 7am at shelter) or afternoon (3pm at adoption location and then drive back to shelter) PLEASE let me know. Or if you can help at one of the events let me know!! We need volunteers!

We also have the opportunity to do an adoption March 26th at the new Petsmart store opening at Hacks Cross & Winchester. This is in addition to the adoption event on 03/25 at Petco and Petsmart. I know it's a lot but with all the puppies we have right now it is vital that we take every opportunity to find them homes while they are young.

And, we have finally received approval for our April 1st event. This is scheduled to be a Pet Walk, FCAR Reunion and Super-Adoption day. We need a large number of volunteers. The event will be at Cameron Brown Park on Farmington in Germantown.

And finally, we have a garage sale scheduled for May 13th. As you start your spring cleaning please consider holding any items that we can sell to benefit our rescues. We will start collecting items at the shelter on 04/15 through 05/12.

Please check the schedule in the left border for all events click here to view our Volunteer Event Schedule. Let Laurie know which events you can help with. If you cannot make your scheduled event please let us know ahead of time so that we can find a replacement.
