We are a no-kill, non-profit humane organization dedicated to rescuing the sick, injured, abused, abandoned and neglected animals of Fayette County.

Make a Difference… Volunteer!

We just rescued an additional 4 puppies from a cruelty call which brings us up to 12 puppies from various litters that could REALLY use some extra TLC. Most of these babies have had very little socialization but we have a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in their lives by spending an extra amount of time with them over the next few weeks.

We will be at the shelter from 9am-12pm this Saturday for a Shelter Play Day. We will also be preparing the newsletters for mailing (stamps, mailing labels, stuff with envelopes, etc.) and various other things that need to be done. Please come out and join us... what better way to spend the morning than holding a snuggly puppy while helping prepare the newsletters for mailing!

Our next adoption event isn't until 02/18/06 but we could still use a few more people to help.

And we are still in desperate need for more help at the MIdsouth Boat Show (all shifts). Check the Volunteer Event Schedule for shift times.

We also still need more assistance typing old adopter information into a spreadsheet to use for our April 1 Event mailing. If you can help let me know…

And finally we have 2 adoption events scheduled for March 25th. If you have a van or SUV that you can assist in transporting animals and adoption materials either in the morning (meet at 7am at shelter) or afternoon (3pm at adoption location and then drive back to shelter) PLEASE let me know. The only other alternative would be to rent a van and I’d hate to use our limited funds to do that.

Our Rescues

New Arrivals

We rescued 3 four-week old puppies and a 3-month old puppy on Monday. They appear to be chow / shepherd mix and are most likely related to the two puppies that we rescued last week.

Adoptions
-  Virginia, a Chihuahua mix that was recently returned, was adopted
-  Squirt, a dachsund mix, his adoption was finalized

Events

We need a LOT more help for the Midsouth Boat Show, February 17-19th… please let Laurie know if you can help by working a shift.

Also, mark your calendars for February 25th. We have a regular adoption day scheduled at Petco Germantown and also plan on walking some of our rescues in the Germantown Mardi Gras Parade with “Adopt Me” jackets. The parade starts at 1pm. If you are interested in walking a dog for us, let Laurie know as we have to register them ahead of time and know how many to bring.
NOTE: Children can attend with you but you must be >18 years old to walk a dog.

Please check the schedule in the left border for all events and let Laurie know which events you can help with. If you cannot make your scheduled event please let us know ahead of time so that we can find a replacement.
