We are a no-kill, non-profit humane organization dedicated to rescuing the sick, injured, abused, abandoned and neglected animals of Fayette County.

Make a Difference… Volunteer!

We have a lot of puppies at the shelter right now that could really use some extra TLC. If you have a couple free hours that you can bring a book and just hold a puppy you could make a real difference in socializing these babies.

We could use just a couple more people for setup and teardown at adoption day this Saturday at Petco in Germantown. The more people we have the easier it is on everybody so if you have an hour that you could help let me know.

Thank you to two new volunteers, Matt F. and Megan W., for coming out last Saturday and helping at our adoption day!!

Our Rescues

New Arrivals

Napoleon and Mandy are two of our new additions. We don't have pictures yet but they are 8 week old shepherd/chow mix that have apparently never been touched by humans. They were living under a broken down house and we had to catch them in traps. They were both absolutely terrified, completely covered in burrs, extremely dehydrated and malnourished. These are two babies that need a lot of TLC in order to have any chance at a normal life.

We also found Festus sleeping in a blown over garbage can in my neighborhood. He is a 9 week old cattle dog mix.

We rescued Wrecks, who is a male orange and white cat that is currently at the vet. He was attacked by three dogs and it is touch and go at this time whether he will make it or not.

Adoptions
-  Troy, one of the Australian mix puppies was adopted
-  Vienna, a Chihuahua mix that was recently returned, was adopted
-  Squirt, a dachsund mix was adopted pending a home inspection

Shelter Updates

  • Gilbert will complete his 3 week obedience camp at Dogwoods this Saturday.

  • Ivy & Rocket will graduate from their 8 week obedience training class next Monday.

Kong / Nylabone Update
We have raised almost $200 that we will be using to purchase Kongs and Nylabones for our rescues. We will be placing the order February 1st so if you are interested in donating please mail your check to the shelter and mark KONGS in the Notes section. We also placed an ad in the Fayette Falcon requesting donations for this purpose. Thank you all for your generosity!

Events

We need a LOT more help for the Midsouth Boat Show, February 17-19th… please let Laurie know if you can help by working a shift.

Also, mark your calendars for February 25th. We have a regular adoption day scheduled at Petco Germantown and also plan on walking some of our rescues in the Germantown Mardi Gras Parade with “Adopt Me” jackets. The parade starts at 1pm. If you are interested in walking a dog for us, let Laurie know as we have to register them ahead of time and know how many to bring.
NOTE: Children can attend with you but you must be >18 years old to walk a dog.

Please check the schedule in the left border for all events and let Laurie know which events you can help with. If you cannot make your scheduled event please let us know ahead of time so that we can find a replacement.
