BILL COSBY
William Henry Cosby was born on July 12,
1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He lived in a poor family with his mom and
brothers, and he dropped out of school to join the Navy in the tenth grade.
Afterwards, he went to Temple University on a scholarship while working as a
bartender. He got his start in acting by being a comedian and telling stories
about his family as jokes. In 1965, he became the first black man to star in a
show on television in “I Spy”. He attended the University of Massachusetts 12
years later and received a doctorate in education. He helped give other black
people courage and inspiration to have their own shows and do their best. The
Cosby Show was made in 1985 and was very popular. It was one of the first
shows that showed a well-off black family. He also created the cartoon series Fat
Albert and the Cosby Kids shortly after.
Bill Cosby wrote several best-selling books, such as Fatherhood
and Time Flies. Bill Cosby is also known for the children’s books he
wrote in the Little Bill series, like The Meanest Thing to Say, The
Best Way to Play and Money Troubles. In his books, he talks about
family life, which is something that he is best known for.
