The Newcomb's have one son, Matt, who is a chef......EDUCATION: B.A. Hiram College 1977 in Elementary and Special Education and Reading Instruction; M.Ed. Lesley College 1983 in Cultural Foundations of Education; D.Litt. (honorary) Nova Colleges 1988 in Literature; Ph.D. Nova Colleges 1991 in Education; Nazarene Continuing Lay Training; Licensed Community and Motorcycle Chaplain, CFMI 2009.....PUBLISHING: Writings and published works have included topics in religion, education, historic preservation, the Amish culture, covered bridges, Ohio Indian history, grant writing, and poetry. Tom has appeared in many journals, compilations, collections, newspapers, magazines and other periodicals......Tom has also self published in limited editions under the imprint of Newcomb Publishing......EDUCATIONAL WORK: Tom and Kathy Newcomb taught at Bloomfield-Mespo Local Schools in Mesopotamia, Ohio for over 30 years. {Tom retired in the summer of 2009, with 35 years of public service, to further his studies and work in Christian Ministry; Kathy retired with 35 years of public service in 2010 to further work in Women's Christian Ministry.}.....Tom won numerous awards including: Trumbull County Teacher of the Year, The Class Act Award, The A+ Teacher Award (twice), and Who's Who Among America's Teachers......He was an Earth Friendly Teacher and was pleased to work on reintroduction of gray wolves into Yellowstone National Park in the 1990's. Tom is a supporter of Defenders of Wildlife......CHRISTIAN SERVICE: Tom and Kathy are ministry team members at NorthEast Community Church of the Nazarene in Burton, Ohio, and are on the church board. Tom serves as community chaplain {Tom was credentialed and licensed as a Chaplain by Chaplain Fellowship Ministries International in April of 2009}.
