MORE WOMEN AND COMPETITION AND HOUNDS

Welcome to my online photo album.

Having hounds and taking care of them properly is hard work. A person with a hound or any dog has to be willing to sacrafice time twenty-four, seven. Dogs need to be feed, cleaned, kennels cleaned, shots kept up, injuries treated and sickness, plus they need daily one on one with their master.

'PR' Skygusty Dark Dolly---Weem's bred Plott hound

This is a picture of Joyce and her Plott hound Dolly, getting a bath. Dolly was killed by a hit and run driver while doing what she loved most coon hunting. She was a number one Bobcat dog. This dog actually jumped off the top of a high wall into a large spruce tree with a bobcat in West Virginia. She injured herself on the fall, but jumped up and treed the cat again, since it bailed out of the tree when Dolly jumped in. When we got this dog home, she was the first that we put together with Superglue, on the advice of Eugene Walker. The area on her neck that was sliced open healed well and with out a scare. Thank you Eugene for some excellent advice.

NEVER TO EARLY TO START

This is a picture of 'PR' Skygusty Amos' Jr. and Joyce spending time with her pup. You will find that pups work better if the owner gives them special attention and quality time. Special attention such as brushing the dead skin away, cleaning the ears, and checking the ears for mites, cutting toe nails, and trying to keep aware of each dogs general health. Jr. is a Plott hound out of Amos and Sarah. He was a natural coon dog and was killed by a semi truck three days after he treed the first time with old dogs on a coon at four and a half months old, on the Raccoon River in Sac County, Iowa.

NEVER TO EARLY TO START

In this picture you will find 'Pr' Skygusty Samson's Strength with Joyce on a trout stream located in the Smokey Mountains of Tennesse. On this day just before trout season I took a young Samson on a hike with me looking for trout that had been stocked in this stream a few days before season opened. This is a good way to spend quality time with your dog and getting them use to fast water and crossing it. Samson is out of our own Amos and Dolly. We have used Samson for bear and raccoon hunting. For a Plott, Samson is very cold nosed, and has one of the deepest bawl mouths I have ever heard on a Plott Hound. He is a big boy now. This picture was taken in 1995 when he was 9 months old.
