The HR3 Official Home Page

aka Cubers

"Better Lucky Than Good"

Our motto reflects the attitude of the majority of the members of HR3 (pronounced HR Cubed). We are also referred to as Cubers. HR3 is a survey team affiliated with the N.S.S. that has dedicated itself to the exploration, mapping and survey of Highland Rim Caves. Each member has brought to the team a vast knowledge of caving as well as unique individual contributions. It is not just one member that makes HR3 a good survey team but all of us working together for a common goal!

The NSS

"Take Nothing But Pictures; Leave Nothing But Footprints; Kill Nothing But Time!"
This is the motto for the NSS as well as the organized caving community. HR3 adhears to the guidelines of The NSS. All of our members advance the study of speleology through our survey and mapping of Highland Rim Caves! Some HR3members (but not all) also go a step futher an advance the study and science of speleology not only through their survey efforts but also through continued work in exploration, conservation, historical documentation, the protection of caves and the natural resources they contain. Here's just a few of the cave resources we try to protect: Speleothems such as stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, baconrind and soda straws. Cave life that we help protect includes ( Myotis Grisescen & Myotis Sodalis) Endangered Bats, (Gyrinophilus Palleucus) Tennessee Cave Salamander, (Cambarus Hamulatus) Cave Crayfish and (Pseudanophthalmus) Cave Beetles.
