Leonard Cemetery Project

Welcome, by visiting this page you have indicated a desire to help out on this particular project. It is called "In Good Company...A Genealogy of the Residents of the Leonard Cemetery in Clay County, TN". This project is intended as a way to earn money for the upkeep of the Leonard Cemetery. All money after costs will be placed in a special fund.

Situated on a hillside directly above the famous Leonard cave. The tiny cemetery has often times been referred to as the prettiest in the area. Almost all the monuments have flowers and hardly a week goes by that a visitor doesn't stop to visit almost every grave there. The residents in this cemetery is connected in some way, If not kin than they were neighbors.

At the present time it is basically up to one person or one family to be certain that the cemetery is kept in good condition. The family doing the deed now are doing a terrific job. However, they either finance this work themselves or they rely on the generosity of the families of those residing here for money to cover expense.

It is my intention to compile a book with pictures and a commemoration of all those buried here. My reason for doing so is really very simple. I can go back several generations in this one cemetery, as can others. I want to do what I can to make certain that this cemetery is cared for in the years to come.

You can help by sending in any information you may have on any of the burials there with or without a picture of that person. All those contributing information will be given credit. Not sure if there is anyone there you know, click on the link below and check it out. All residents are arranged alphabetically and the year of birth and death are given. Thank you for visiting and for any help you can offer.
