Poem Commentary

This generic "in memory" poem, was inspired
by requests I have been getting to write poems
about departed loved ones and also poems of
comfort for those grieving over departed loved
ones. As much as I love to write and as much as I
would love to be able to help ease someones pain,
I found it very difficult to write about someone
I did not know personally. My poems usually come
from a deep conviction or a deep personal relation-
ship, so writing about or for someone I do not know
comes very hard for me. I would like to thank those
of you who thought my work was worthy of honoring
someone you loved, enough to request my pen. As I
agonized over not being able to help you, the
thought of a "Generic Poem" came to mind. This
poem deals with losing a spouse but I plan to add
different variations to fit your specific need in
the near future. Please feel free to copy this poem
and insert the name of your loved one in the space
provided. I hope this will satisfy your need.
Your Brother In Christ..Timothy Jon Barrett

Generic"In Memory"Poem

As I reminisce of times we've shared,
my grief still takes control.
Not a day goes by, I don't pray to die,
to join your departed soul.

You promised me you'd never leave,
that your love would never quit.
We joined our hands, with wedding bands,
now here alone I sit.

Our love so strong and full of life,
now weakness has me bound.
With my soul mate gone, I just can't go on,
no peace is ever found.

But a part of me still wants to live,
my emotion still divides.
How do I begin, to live once again,
when a broken heart resides.

We were closer than any siamese twins,
when we found the Lord that day.
Our spirits were spliced, by the Lord Jesus Christ,
but now you've been taken away.

But the Lord has been speaking to my heart,
that has given me some relief.
I'm still needed below, to let people know,
there's an answer for their grief.

And he's shown me in his very words,
that I soon will see your face.
The day quickly nears, he will dry all my tears,
and my pain will be erased.

So though I miss you dearly my love,
I still have work to do.
My love will not fade, or the vows that I made,
when I gave my heart to you.

Nothing or no one can take your place,
Dear (Enter Name), My Heavenly Mate,
I'll be counting the days, til that symphony plays,
and I see you at Heaven's Gate.
