Welcome...This page is a memorial to the brave men in my Davis line who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces...

Thomas A. Davis, Private:
When Thomas was thirty-three, in 1862, he left his wife and four children to join the Confederate Army. He was a private in the 56th NC regiment, Co. T. The next two years of his life must have been bitter years. He was plagued with dysentery which eventually caused his death. Much of the time was spent in hospitals in N.C. and Virginia. The letters he wrote to his family during those years--very devoted and religious and showed that he loved his wife and children very much and was concerned for their welfare. In the late summer of 1864 Thomas Allen became so ill he was hospitalized in Richmond, Virginia. Word was sent to Margaret that her husband was gravely ill, but communications were slow and by the time she arrived in Richmond, Thomas had died on 21 August and had been buried. Margaret searched for his grave but was never able to locate it. .
We now know that the resting place of Thomas A Davis is Oakwood cemetery in Richmond, Virginia...
