Herman Schwartz (currently of Wayne, NJ) - Attended NTS Sampson Boot Camp from 10/3/43 to 11/20/43. From there, he went to AMM School (NTSch Chicago, IL); Cat & Arr Gear School (NYD Phila, PA); and Sea Duty (USS Prince William CVE31). He was Discharged 4/24/46 it Lido Beach, NY.




Gus Thomaris (currently of Colton, NY)
Picture was taken in Hawaii during 1944 at a studio along with the photographer's son that happened to be in the shop at that time




Al Vardalis - taken around March, 1945
He was 17 years old and entered Sampson on February 7, 1945, Company 332 Edwards.




Bob Vogel - picture taken in 1945, just before he was sent to Bremerhaven, Germany for "occupation duty" at a German Submarine Base. He was attached to a "Salvage" unit removing sunken ships, barges, etc, taking them out to sea and sinking them to clear the Harbors. Mr. Vogel presently lives in West Springfield, Mass.
