I pulled away and smiled a questioning smile at him and whispered back, "okay."
Then, as I was bending down to tuck Tyler in. . .Tyler said, "I heard you Cody. . . tomorrow is Zoo Day at Central Day Camp." I smiled hugely at Tyler as Cody sputtered in wonderment at HOW Tyler had heard. . .and, lovingly I admired Tyler's ears and remarked on their size and excellent hearing abilities! He was very proud.
So, now, Cody wanted to try out HIS ears, to prove to both Tyler and I that HIS ears worked perfectly as well as Tyler's. So, Tyler whispered in my ear. . .(there went the goose bumps down my other arm) "I love you."
We looked up at Cody with expectant expressions. . and he TRIED to put meaningful words to the sounds he thought he had heard. .but could not manage anything more than a guess. . "Get the hot glue?"
Tyler beamed. . . .I laughed, and then we told him what had REALLY been whispered.
All of a sudden, Cody was less skeptical - in fact, we almost had ourselves a believer.
Still seeing that he had not totally convinced Cody of his exceptional hearing, Tyler challenged him with another whisper and Cody accepted. So, up again I went, on tiptoes. . .to hear Cody's whisper.
I was worried for Tyler's sake as Cody had whispered low and directly into my ear, with hands cupping his mouth to direct the sound! Would Ty be able to rise to this challenge?
We both looked back at Tyler. . . very nearly hearing a drum roll in the background. .and to our wonder and amazement. . .he calmly and assuredly repeated exactly what Cody had whispered, "Scooby Doo and Scrappy Too."
Well, that settled it. .Tyler's ears were IT! Simply awesome! ![]()
Of course, they wanted to play the game some more, but I know a trap when I see one. . .and insisted that they go to sleep - it was bedtime!
Tomorrow was another day, after all.
