Once upon a time,
In a not so far away place,
There lived a little girl,
Promised a very special gift.

Loved yet not lovely,
Gifted yet not treasured,
Needing yet not wanting.

Surrounded by wonder,
Perpetually in search,
For she knew not what.
Ever hungry,
Infant to child,
Child to woman,
Woman to human.
Ever hungry,
Relentless in search,
Reminded by others,
Of a special gift,
Unopened. . .and as yet,
Unpresented.
There was a little girl,
She is no more,
Now lovely, treasured and wanted,
The hunger, too, is gone,
Her gift revealed was YOU.
