Dyer County, Tennessee

Since I live in Dyer County, I spend most of my time hunting here. I have found a wide variety of points at various sites in and around the city of Dyersburg.

These points came from site D1 on 2/9/99. The first, middle, and last points (left to right) are unknown type. The second point is a Pickwick. The fourth point is a Hardin with a nice bevel to it. The three on the bottom row are older Early Archiaic unifacial scrapers.

The two points on the left were found at a new site D21 on 12/28/98. The far left point is a Cobbs Triangle and the point next to it is a Lost Lake. The next two points and Dalton era scraper came from site O26 on 12/27/98.

The point on the left came from a new site D16 and the Hardin point on the right came from a new site D17 on 6/10/98.

This point came from a new site D15 on 6/7/98 along with several broken pieces. Kevin Hamman showed me the spot, I in turn showed him sites D11 and D12 and we didn't find much. Kevin did manage to find a nice stemmed woodland type arrow point at site D11.

I found this weird looking point on 5/12/98 on a new site D14 which is only 2 miles from my house.

I hunted on my lunch break again and found a Bakers Creek on site D2 on 5/11/98.

I found this half of a polished celt at site D2 on 5/11/98. I am the only one hunting this site so you better believe that I will be keeping an eye out for the other half!

I left work on my lunch break and hunted site D1 on 5/5/98 and found this point/blade. Not bad for only hunting 30 minutes.

I hunted a new site (D13) on 5/4/98 and found (from left to right) a Quad base and a Hardaway. The next Hardaway came from site D11. The small ugly point came from D11. The Pickwick in the middle came from site D6. The next point is unknown and it came from site D11 along with the Turkeytail base at the very bottom. Not a bad day.

The Adena was found at site D2 on 4/28/98. The fields were tilled up and we had over 2" or more of rain in one day. The arrowheads were just floating to the top!

The left point is a Hardin and the point on the right is a Pickwick. Both found on site D12 on 4/27/98.

I found this Hardin (black point) on a new site (D12) on 4/22/98. The point to the right is some kind of blade. The Benton has been reworked in the form of a blunt(bottom left). The broken beveled Hardin (bottom middle) is almost whole. The next point is an unknown triangular blade.

I found this ugly point on a new site (D11) on 4/20/98. Kevin and I found several broken Benton and Pickwick bases on this site also.
