PAINTED PONIES
Painted ponies going round and round,
galloping ponies feet never touch the ground.
Silver saddles and flowing manes,
children begging to ride them again.
Painted ponies in a circle of sound,
prancing and dancing going up and down.
Suspended in air on poles of polished brass,
suspended in time forever more to last.
Painted ponies going round and round...
MARCHING MEMORIES
Magical moments frozen in time,
of elephants and clowns and mother goose
rhymes.The raucous noise from the
old midway,blends with popcorn,
cotton candy, and bales of hay.
The circus comes to town amid the blare
of tin horns,strong men, fat ladies,
and rare unicorns.
Gone are the days when as a child,I stood
outside the main tent waiting all the while,
for a glimpse of the exotic, the fantastic, the wild.
My world changed forever when the big top came down...
but the memories live again,each time I ride a merry go round.
