the role of Lipase

If you talk to an enzyme therapist about weight loss, you'll hear mention of lipase. Why do Enzyme Therapists so often suggest Lipase Supplementation when they are working with clients who have difficult weight loss issues?

In order to properly digest fats, the body needs and enzyme called lipase. Deficiency of lipase can be a contributing factor in obesity. Enzyme therapists believe weight management could be easier with the addition of lipase supplementation.

LypoZyme is a specific digestive enzyme formulation, created to assist the person who has concerns ranging from health problems, to high blood pressure, to plaque build up in the arteries, to obesity, to indigestion. LypoZyme aids in the proper digestion of fats, carbohydrates and proteins and contains a high dosage amount of Lipase (the enzyme responsible for proper digestion of fats and balancing of fatty acids) of any product.

How much weight is too much?

What constitutes obesity? According to The government, if a person is 20 pounds over a persons recommended weight, that person is obese.

Lipase deficiency found: Research has shown that people who are obese are low in the enzyme lipase. Why is this finding significant for the obese person, with regard to taking a lipase supplement?

Feeling full and balancing fat: The high amount of lipase in LypoZyme provides the body with a feeling of saiety which further controls appetite, lowers cholestrol and triglyceride levels, and serves in the balancing of fatty acids in the system.

What is Lipase and wat does it do? Lipase is a lipid, or fat, digesting enzyme from Aspergillus oryzae.  Put at it's most simple, lipase digests fat in the body.

This is important for total health, including weight loss and proper weight maintenance, because when your body cannot properly digest the fats you eat, the fat can begin to coat food particles and interfere with your body's use of other important food components such as protein and carbs.

In order for your body to digest the fat you eat, lipases must be present. They are assisted by bile which helps emusify ingested fats so lipases work better. Symptoms of incomplete digestion: Diarrhea and essential fatty acid deficiency are both symptoms of improper fat digestion. In turn, the membrane structure of the cells can be affected because adequate absorption of essential fatty acids is necessary to maintain membrane structure in cells throughout the body and to maintain healthy skin.  Essential fatty acid deficiency also reduces blood clotting time.  Additional enzymes (protease blend, amylase, cellulase) are included to enhance the performance of the other ingredients.

Supplementation with amylase allows digestion of carbohydrates during their transit through the gastrointestinal tract.  These enzymes can tolerate the low pH of the gastric juice.  The amylase hydrolyzes the starchy foods and liberates maltoses.

Protease Blend
Consists of alkaline, neutral and acid proteases plus peptidase. Our protease blend includes proteases that are active in a wide range of pH's, ensuring that protein digestion will begin in the stomach.  It also includes enzymes with a wide range of specificities (i.e. both endo- and exo- peptidase) in order to ensure the highest degree of protein degradation.
