The 1/100 scale Fighter by Arii isn't all that bad. It's a decent representation of the VF-1 in fighter mode, with only a few shortcomings. However, the shortcomings are rather severe for a showpiece, so it's getting only 2 stars. The canopy doesn't fit properly. The heads are very bad. They look nothing like they're supposed to. The decals are decent, but no stripes for the legs on the VF-1S! The landing gear is fairly weak, and can't take much picking up and putting down. The gunpod cannot be displayed on it's own, as it's just a circular tube with a peg on one end as the handle, a targeting sensor on the top, and a small protusion at the end, which represents the bores of the triple barrels of the gun(which, by the way, aren't represented).The display stand that comes with it forces you to omit the gunpod, as it uses the gunpod mount to hold the fighter up. The missles are a pleasant suprise, as a lot of plastic kits don't include these. Very easy kit to put together, and I only recommend it as model-maker fodder or if you can put it somewhere where people can't pick it up and notice the flaws.
