Known as a sex symbol in the fifties and sixties, Tony Curtis was the guy that nearly every man around the world wanted to be. He had the looks, the talent, and the athleticism that everyone envied.

Born Bernie Schwartz on June 3, 1925 to Hungarian-Jewish immigrants in The Bronx New York, Tony always knew that he was different from the rest of the kids his age. He always had a deep down feeling that he was going to be a big star in the movies. But he never imagined how BIG.

He grew up idolizing Cary Grant and especially enjoyed his movie DESTINATION TOKYO (1939). Tony said it was the reason he joined the Navy for submarine services in World War II. When the war was over, Tony used the G.I. Bill of Rights to attend a drama school in New York.

In 1948 he was given a 7 year movie contract by Universal Studio. When he came to Hollywood, his first role was in CRISS CROSS (1949). It starred Burt Lancaster and Yvonne De Carlo. Tony only had a bit part as a gigolo who danced with De Carlo, but everyone one wanted to know who this gorgeous guy was. Universal received over 600 letters demanding to know. Tony played a few more bit parts and continued to get recognition.

Over the years Tony has starred in over 120 films. Some great films like HOUDINI(1953), TRAPEZE (1956), SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS (1957), THE DEFIANT ONES (1958), SOME LIKE IT HOT (1959) and THE GREAT RACE (1965) just to name a few.

Tony was married to actress Janet Leigh from 1951 to 1962. During the years of their marriage, they were thought of as "America's Couple". They starred in five films together. In 1956 their first daughter, Kelly, was born. Two years later, on November 22, Janet gave birth to their second daughter Jamie Lee, a well-known actress herself.

In 1963 Tony married actress Christine Kaufman with who he starred in TARAS BULBA (1961). They also had two daughters, Alexandra and Allegra. In 1968 they divorced and he married model Leslie Allen. They moved to London in 1970 so Tony could work on the series THE PERSUADERS. While there, on December 31, 1971, Leslie gave birth to their first son Nicholas and nearly two years later on May 2, 1973, Their second son Benjamin was born.

Tony has overcome troubled times with great strength. Like losing his 9 year old brother Julian in 1938 when he was he hit by a truck, the loss of his brother Robert in 1992, and the loss of his oldest son, Nicholas, in 1994 due to a drug overdose. He has also overcome his own drug addiction.

On November 6, 1998, he married a nice woman named Jill Vanden Berg. He still continues to work, whether it is in movies, television, or his paintings. He paints full time and displays he artwork in exhibits around the world. He even has his own website. He is still loved by his many fans and remains loyal to his fans, answering fan mail and signing autographs.

TONY CURTIS IS TRULY THE GREATEST AND MOST HANDSOME ACTOR TO EVER GRACE THE SILVER SCREEN. And I hope that I have at least done him a little justice by creating this site.
