Jew's LDS Page

Welcome to my LDS page. I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 20 August 1966 in Hagerstown, Maryland. This event changed my life tremendously, in a positive way, as I have tried to incorporate the teachings of Jesus Christ in all that I do. Included on this page are uplifting thoughts, some "funnies", and LDS links. Thanks for visiting... I hope your stay is enjoyable.

Before He sent His children to earth
Gave each of them
A very carefully selected package
of problems.

He promised, smiling,
Are yours alone. No one
Else may have the blessings
These problems will bring you.

And only you
Have the special talents and abilities
That will be needed
To make these problems
Your servants.

Now go down to your birth
And to your forgetfulness. Know that
I love you beyond measure.
These problems that I give you
Are a symbol of that love.

The monument you make of your life
With the help of your problems
Will be a symbol of your
Love for me,

Your Father

So far today, God, I've done all right. I haven't gossiped, haven't lost my temper, haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or over-indulgent. I'm thankful for that. But in a few minutes, God, I'm going to get out of bed, and from then on, I'm probably going to need a lot more help. Amen

Dear Children,

I remember well the day you left my side, wandered through the veil, and ventured forth to fulfill your earthly mission. I had a tear in my eye each time I clothed your spirit in a cloak of love and sent you off to school. Be assured that my thoughts are with you now as always. I love you with all my heart. I know your lives, the good and the bad, your grief, your disappointments, your unrewarded efforts, your frustrations and temptations but always remember, all that I have is yours if you will only come home again.

Children, realize that in each one of you I placed a bit of heaven, no one was exempt. I love you all. Each of you has some blessed gift, some talent, some small part of me in you. Search for it, develop it, use it, and most importantly share it with others. If you really love me, then help others find themselves and lead them to me. Show your love by serving others. Repent of your failings and humble yourselves. Make yourselves ever teachable and continually strive to improve.

I gave you weaknesses to help you to be humble, don't curse me for that. I did it because I love you. Be full of hope, don't let discouragement engulf you. I will come when you need me.

My children, cease your idle contentions. Be peacemakers, for it breaks my heart to see so many of my children fighting. If they only could see what I have hoped, planned, and desired for them. My heart breaks as I watch them, but you, my faithful children, YOU are my hope. It is through you that my work must proceed. You haven't much time and there is so much to be done. I beg you to get started. Accomplish the mission I gave you before you left me. I will help you. I am never too busy or too far away to come to you. I am nearer to you always then you might suspect.

I have so much I would like to tell you, my beloved children. Be diligent in my work and my kingdom shall be yours. I would love to take you in my arms, but I too must wait patiently. That time will come. Until then, I leave you with my peace, my blessing, my love and never forget - I AM NEARBY IF YOU NEED ME.

I love you and miss you so very much, and oh, how I am looking forward for you to return again to your mother and I.

All My Love,

Your Heavenly Father

A lot of people are like wheelbarrows - no good unless pushed.
Some are like canoes, - they need to be paddled.
Some are like kites - if you don't keep a string on them, they fly away.
Some are like kittens - they are more contented when petted.
Some are like footballs - you can't tell which way they will bounce next.
Some are like trailers - they have to be pulled.
Some are like balloons - full of air and ready to blow-up.
Some are like neon lights - they keep going on and off.
And we would like to add, some are like a good watch - open-faced, pure gold, quietly busy, and full of good works!

Obedience is the Price
Faith is the Power
Love is the Key
Spirit is the Motivation
And Jesus Christ is the Reason

Let the words I speak today be soft and tender,
For tomorrow I may have to eat them!!!!

Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least." Goethe

There are no mistakes, just lessons to be learned.

OK, these next two items are strictly LDS literature (and I use that word VERY loosely!!!)...and, please, don't anyone get bent outta shape over them...they are meant to be funny!! OK?

We believe in meetings, all that have been scheduled, all that are now scheduled, and we believe that there will yet be many great and important meetings scheduled. We have endured many meetings and hope to be able to endure all meetings. Indeed, we may say that if there is a meeting or anything that resembles a meeting or anything that we may possibly turn into a meeting, we seek after these things.

For my non-LDS friends, the above is a take-off on the 13 Articles of Faith that state our beliefs. View Now for item #2...oh, and also for my non-member friends, a "Ward" as mentioned below has nothing whatsoever to do with either political boundaries or hospitals...although some may think differently!!! It is actually the name used for each of our congregations. Also, a "Stake" is not a type of meat nor a stick in the is a group of "Wards"...

Dear Ward Member,

This chain letter is meant to bring greater happiness to you and your Ward.
Unlike any other chain letter you may have received, this one does not cost money.
It will just lighten your load. You simply send a copy of this letter to six (6)
other Church members in various other stakes who are unhappy with their Bishop.
Then you bundle up YOUR Bishop and send him to the Ward at the bottom of the list.

In one week you will receive 16,536 Bishops. One of them should be a dandy and just
what you have always wanted a Bishop to be!

You must exercise faith in this letter, and be sure you do not break the chain. One
man broke the chain and got his FORMER Bishop back!

Good luck!

God did not make me in a single hour;
He fashioned me for laughter, love and tears,
And as a tree that slowly comes to flower,
He gave me time, the blessed gift of years.

God did not make me with a single breath:
He gave me will to strive and hope and trust,
And days for growth, so that the hour of death
Might total well, not blow the sun to dust.

May I grow graciously, through sun and rain,
In tolerance and kindness for all men,
And if life's storms should bow my head with pain,
Let not my soul be as a stunted tree;
Let me not fall, but reach toward the stars;
And let me grow as God has planned for me.

I cannot control the wind,
but I can adjust my sails.

Serenity is not freedom from the storm but peace amid the storm.

It's better to try to do something and fail in the deed,
Than try to do nothing and always succeed.

People become no more than what you expect them to become.

A critic is one who knows the way but can't drive the car.

Take enough responsibility on your shoulders and you'll have no room for chips!

What you can conceive and believe, you can acheive.

The difficult age
has come and lit.
I'm too tired to work,
and too poor to quit.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the roads your treading seem all uphill,
When funds are low and debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must - but don't you quit.

Life is queer with it's twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out,
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than it seems
To a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar,
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse that you mustn't quit.

Pain is inevitable - Misery is optional!!

(Sung to the tune of "If You're Happy and You Know It")

When life's got you overrun, then lighten up.
Think of all the good you've done and lighten up.
If your job is just half done and your big battle's just half won,
Pat yourself on half your back and lighten up.

If you're feeling loaded down then lighten up.
Shrug your shoulders, sing a song, and lighten up.
With a friend or two beside you and the Savior's love to guide you,
Let some sunshine back inside you -- Lighten up!

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30

My Father in Heaven, how I love thee.
Thou hast blessed me in ways beyond my imagination.
Thou hast blessed me with health and strength.
Thou hast turned my heart from evil unto thee.
Thou hast filled my heart and soul and life with goodness, joy and happiness.
Thou hast given me peace thru they Spirit.
Thou hast blessed me with the ability to love as thou has loved,
Unconditionally, non-judmentally.
Thou hast bestowed blessings beyond my wildest dreams,
Blessings that I had never known could be possible.
Thou art my God, my Savior, my Salvation.
Thou art my respite from the storms of life.
Thou art my own, my Father, my help, my guide.
Thou art all and everything to me.

Eileen Wheeler - 1995

I know that God lives and that he loves me. I know that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, that He is my Savior, that He is the Redeemer to all mankind. I know that I love Him, that He causes me to find joy in His, in serving others. His love fills my heart, soul and mind with the peace that passes all understanding. I find happiness in trying to live the kind of life that He would have me live; trying to be honest in all my dealing, treating people with love and respect, for we are all His children, indeed, brothers and sisters because of His Fatherhood. I know that Joseph Smith was an instrument in the hands of our Heavenly Father and restored many truths that were, down through the ages, lost from the world. I know that the Church of Jesus Church of Latter-day Saints is, indeed, just that...the Lord's church and that we have a prophet today, Thomas S. Monson, who receives revelation for the people of the earth. I know that His church is the legal administrator of the restored Gospel, to bless all people, everywhere. I know that both the Bible and Book of Mormon are scripture, written by ancient prophets of God, and that by reading and studying these books, we can learn the will of our Heavenly Father for our own lives. This testimony I leave with you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
