A little more than two feet in height, the nuna is native to the planet Naboo. This flightless bird is a vigorous omnivore that feeds mostly on swamp plants. But its long legs allow it to follow small amphibians, which it snaps up with its sharp beak. Unlike shaaks, nunas inhabit the swamps, and only move from one area to the other when the warm season dries up their usual feeding grounds. Only during these migrations do the solitary birds band together. A capable runner, the nuna always flees when faced with danger. If trapped, the nuna will use its powerful legs to kick viciously in defense. The nuna's back is lined with scales but those provide little protection against the many hunters who seek out the nuna for its tasty meat. Their high reproductive rate helps the nunas avoid extinction.
