September 02, 1999 JELENA AND PARTNER OUT OF DOUBLES
Well it has been disappointing week and it became even more disappointing in the last few hours. Jelena and partner Tina Pisnik has lost their 1st round doubles match to Nicole Arendt and Manon Bollegraf.
Bollegraf
and Manon beat Jelena and Tina in straight sets

So with
Jelena completely out of the US open we can now look forward to Jelena's next
comp in Tokoyo starting on the 20th of this month (September).

JELENA SWEPT AWAY BY SPANIARD
Dissappointingly, Jelena has beren brushed aside by the almighty Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario. Jelena started out confidently and was leading at 4-1. Then Arantxa became determined, Jelena started to make too many errors and it all went pear shaped.
The match concluded at:
7-5 6-1
Well done to Arantxa, bad luck Jelena.
DAVENPORT DUMPS STEVENSON
Davenport, the number three seed has earned her place in the final by dumping fellow American Alexandra Stevenson. Lindsay wrapped up the match at:
6-1; 6-1
DISSAPOINTMENT FOR DOKIC
Today's match wrapped up at:
6-3; 1-6; 6-3
Pity, because if it hadn't been rained on and off and on and off, I think Jelena could've taken it.
Just over a week ago, Dokic took Wimbledon by storm, beating Hingis and following those matches with a string of successes but today she lost in the quarter finals to American Alexandra Stevenson.
Obviouisly dissapointed Dokic left the court hastily while Stevenson curtsied to the crowd. Next up, Stevenson will meet the number town seed Lindsay Davenport in the semis whil Graf takes on the powerful Mirjana Lucic.
In the tough Graf/Williams match, last year's champion Jana Novotna reckoned that the winner of the match will be the one to take the title this year. However, have been speculations of Davenport perhaps to be the one. No matter how it turns out, Dokic will not be the one this year but we can look forward to seeing her a lot in the future.
Oh and, enjoy watching Davenport slaughter Stevenson - I know I will!!
J Dokic (AUS) and T Pisnik (SLO) v (12) M J Fernandez (USA) and M Seles.
This match will hopefully be played on Friday on court 13, so it should get TV coverage. The match which was scheduled for today will be played whenever Jelena finishes her singles match. There are some worries, however, that Pisnik's ankle won't hold out. For thier last doubles match, her ankle was heavily strapped and at one point in the match she looked to have injured it enough to retire from the doubles tournament. If the match goes the full 3 set, Pisnik have problems.
DOUBLES WIN FOR JELENA AND PISNIK

It was nail biting tennis action!
JELENA BEATS PIERCE
Ninth seed Mary Pierce of France has been discarded by the Australian newcomer.

ANOTHER WIN FOR AUSTRALIAN ACE
In a match against Katrina Sudenikova, Jelena has won comfortably.

KREMER SENT PACKING
Jelena has had another success at Wimbledon. She beat Kremer
