Billy B. Wood,

Funeral services for Billy B. Wood, age 62, of the Mt. Vernon Community of Clay County, were conducted Friday, December 31, 1999 at 1:00 pm from the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Glen Crowe officiating. Pallbearers were Wayne Tuck, Kenneth Birdwell, J.D. Key, Roy Reecer, James Likens, and Dean Roberts. Interment was in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

Mr. Wood was pronounced dead on arrival Wednesday, December 29, 1999 at the Cumberland River Hospital, North in Celina, TN, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Billy B. Wood was born in Jackson County, TN, the son of the late Carl and Daffo Hix Wood.

He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Kay Beasley, Moss, TN, and a son Billy Wood, Jr., Scottsville, KY.

He was engaged in farming most of his life and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ.

Glenn Dell Witcher,

Funeral services for Glenn Dell Witcher, age 84, of Red Boiling Springs, TN, were conducted Thursday, December 23, 1999 at 2:00 pm from the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, with Brother Hermon Wilkins officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Futrell, Gordon Oldham, B.D. Polston, and Voris Comer. Active Pallbearers were Fay II Wticher, Barry Witcher, Andy Witcher, Todd Witcher, Tim Witcher, and Jamie Comer. Intermetn was in the Whitley Cemetery.

Mr. Witcher passed away Tuesday morning, December 21, 1999 at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville, TN.

He was born in Macon Coutny, TN on August 18, 1915, the son of the late Pony and Lena Russell Witcher. He was married in 1946 to the former Jospehine Kirby, the daughter of the late Dr. A.Y. Kirby, who preceded him in death on March 10, 1971. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, Ray, and Kenneth Witcher, sisters, Geneva Kemp and Lucille Rains.

He was the owner and operator of Glenn Witcher Lumber Company from 1933 to 1941. He was a partner in Witcher Lumber Company from 1941 to 1967. He was part owner and President of Red Boiling Springs Lumber company from 1967 to 1977. He served as President and part owner of Monroe Lumber Company from 1969 to 1981. He was part owner of the Palace Rest Home of Red Boiling Springs from 1961 to 1979, where he served as Administrator and Executive Vice President from 1964 to 1979. He was engaged in farming, raising livestock, the hardware business, and several other businesses. He was a member of the Red Boiling Springs First Baptist Church.

He is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Edith Ellen Farr Walsh

Funeral Services for Mrs. Edith Farr Walsh of Red Boiling Springs, TN were conducted at 1:00 Saturday, December 18, 1999 from the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Red Boiling Springs with Elder Jackie Stagner officiating. Pallbearers were Allan Knight, Bryan Castro, David Castro, Mark Evans, Clyde Knight, Jerry Newman, Matthew Wilson, and Bob Castro. Interment was in the Anderson & Son Memorial Park in LaFayette.

Mrs. Walsh passed away Wednesday evening, December 15, 1999 at the St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN.

She was born in Wise County, Virginia on March 27, 1929, the daughter of the late Polk and Hazel Carter Farr. She was married to Patrick Walsh, who survives. In addition to her paretns, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Smith. She was the former owner and operator of the Donoho Hotel in Red Boiling Springs, TN for over twenty years.

Besides her husband, she is survived by daughters: Glenda Hill, Red Boiling Springs, TN, Patricia Sanchez, Chicago, IL, daughters and sons-in-law: Brenda and Robert Riley, Buford, GA; Gloria and Robert Castro, Santa Rosa, CA, Sisters: Amanda Grisby, Victoria Couch, Jeanette Vandola, all of Plymouth, IN, Josephine Baker, Chavez, KY, brothers, George and James Smith, both of Plymouth, IN, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

J. D. Whittemore,

69, of the New Harmony Community, died Monday, November 15, 1999 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born Thursday, August 28, 1930, in Macon County, Tennessee, a son of the late Jessie Whittemore and Lillie Barber Whittemore, and was a farmer and a member of New Harmony Missionary Baptist Church for over 56 years. On September 27, 1947, he was married to Oma Lee White Whittemore.

Survivors include his wife of over 52 years, Oma Lee White Whittemore, of the New Harmony Community; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jennell Whittemore and Art Vincent, Nashville, TN; and Rhonda Whittemore of the New Harmony Community; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Treasa Whittemore, of the Long Creek Community; one brother and sister-in-law, Clemons and Estelle Whittemore, of the Williams Community; and four grandchildren, Hollye Wilkerson and Hunter Wilkerson, both of the New Harmony Community; Ian Whittemore and Larken Whittemore both of the Long Creek Community. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Whittemore.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm, Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at the Alexander-Goad Funeral Home Chapel with Eld. Harold Dean Linville and Eld. Junior Farley officiating. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be Tim Barber, Mark Barber, Gus Fisher, Johnny White, Larry White and Novis Lancaster. Jessie Louis Wix,

62, a resident of Comprehensive Care Center of Hartsville and formerly of Westmoreland, TN, died Sunday, October 24, 1999 at Trousdale Medical Center in Hartsville. He was born Thursday, February 25, 1937, in Sumner County, Tennessee, a son of the late Homer Wix and Lorene Green Wix.

Survivors include three sisters, Helen Huffines, Westmoreland, TN; Mary Jo Bullington, Lafayette, TN; and Nancy Anderson, Scottsville, KY; three brothers, Robert Wix, Lebanon, TN; Harold Wix and Jackie Wix, both Westmoreland, TN, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Wix and a sister, Janice Wix.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 27, 1999 at the Grace Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Wix and Bro. Kenneth Wix officiating.

85, of Lafayette, died Wednesday, September 1, 1999 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette. She was born Wednesday, January 14, 1914, in Macon County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Harvey Wilson Doss and Lula Napier Doss. She was a homemaker, a member of White Oak Church of Christ, and wife of the late Dewey Phillip West, who died December 30, 1989.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Earl Claiborne and Jean and Anthony Anderson1 Lafayette, TN; three sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Joyce West, Hartsville, TN; Kermice and Pat West and Billy and Sue West, Lafayette, TN; one brother, Riley Doss, Lafayette, TN; nine grandchildren, Linda Bellar, Margaret Thacker, Donna Bohanan, Mike West, Jimmy Claiborne, Mary Lynn Driver, Larry West, Tern West, and Kevin West; six step-grandchildren, Sue Neal Wezet, Scott Wilson, James Anderson, Sharon Lackey, Amy Satterfield, and Steve Brewster; 11 great-grandchildren, Brad Cunningham, Brian Cunningham, Trey Bellar, Jon Bellar, Karlee Driver, T. Floyd Allen Woodcock,

87, of Lafayette, TN died Monday, October 18, 1999 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette. He was born Sunday, July 21, 1912, in Macon County, TN., a son of the late Samuel Woodcock and Rune Hinton Woodcock, and was a retired farmer and member of Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church. On April 7, 1934, he was married to Kathleen King Woodcock, who preceded him in death on April 13, 1984.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Doug Bailey; one sister, Velma Blankenship, all of Lafayette, TN; three step-grandchildren, Chad Bailey and his wife, Charlotte, Spring Hill, TN; Gary Bailey and his wife, Joy, and Brooke Bailey, and a step-great-granddaughter, Kailin Bailey, all of Franklin, TN. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Eutra Woodcock and Otis Woodcock and a sister, Agnes Woodcock.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Dylan Johns and Anthony Jones, both of Lafayette, TN; his grandparents, Ron and Mary Hastings, Houston, Texas; Martha Johns, Lafayette, TN; Stanley and Robbie Coffee, Carthage, TN, and Ricky Johns, Lafayette, TN; his great-grandparents, George Wood, Lebanon, Indiana; Harold and Mina Nichols, Kokomo, IN; Jane Geasey, Walton, Indiana; Bob and Doris Johns, Lafayette, TN; and Buford and Frances Kingery, Lafayette, TN. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Richard Wood, and a great-grandmother, Lee Vear Wood.

Eloise Kislig Painter Wootten,

86, of Lafayette, TN, died Saturday, September 25, 1999 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette. She was born Wednesday, July 16, 1913, in Paden City, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Charles Kislig and Rebecca Bucher Kislig. Eloise received an A.B. degree from Marietta College, and was a retired school teacher in Macon County. She was a long time member of the Macon County Library Board and a member of Lafayette Chapter #379 Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, John Douglas Wootten; two sons and daughters in law, Judge John D. Wootten, Jr. and his wife, Melissa, and Jack Barr Painter II, and his wife, Leslie, all of Lafayette, TN; three grandchildren, Rebecca Painter Sanchez, Ellen Painter Buchholz, and Kevin Badnan Painter, and one great-granddaughter, Emilia Kaye Sanchez.

Funeral services were conducted 2:00 pm, Monday, September 27, 1999 at the Alexander-Goad Funeral Hone with Rev. Russell Trotter and Rev. Malcolm Patton officiating. Burial was in Walton Cemetery. Sylvia Schaefer Webster passed away Wednesday, April 21, 1999 at her residence.

A native of London, England, the daughter of the late Jean Lamont and Laure Devilmar Lyman Schaefer. She was married to Burl Devere Richardson on September 6, 1938, who preceded her in death August 6, 1969 and to Phillip Neil Webster on Mar 5, 1983, who preceded her in death on 17 March 1994. She had a Masters Degree from the University of Nebraska and was a retired Drama and Music Teacher. She was a member of the LaFayette United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Laure and Dean Ray of the Willette Community and son and daughter-in-law, Frank and JoAnne Richardson of Louisville, Colorado, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

2 years and 10 month old son of Scott and Beverly Webb of the Rocky Mound Community, died Friday, August 27, 1999 at his residence. He was born Saturday, October 26, 1996, in Sumner County, Tn.

He is survived by his parents, Scott and Beverly Bullington Webb, of the Rocky Mound Community; his grandparents, Dorothy Bullington, of the Rocky Mound Community; Joe and Dorothy Hall, Lexington, TN; and Ken and Beverly Webb, Lavergne, TN; a great-grandmother, Annie Webb, Clarksburg, TN; a half-brother, an uncle and aunt, Scott and Sharon Day, of the Rocky Mound Community. He was precededin death by a grandfather, Douglas Bullington.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm, Sunday, August 29, 1999 at the Rocky Mound Missionary Baptist Church with Eld. Ricky White and Eld. James Pete Porter officiating. Esto Sadler Whitley passed away Tuesday, July 27, 1999 at the St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN.

She was born in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Noah Hatton and Maryetta West Sadler. She was married on March 13, 1938 to Roy Whitley, who preceded her in death on February 24, 1992. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Windell, Verdell, and Cordell Sadler.

She is survived by a Daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Jackie Birdwell, Red Boiling Springs, TN, Son & daughter-in-law, Jimmy Troy & Madyline Whitley, Canton, Ohio, Sisters, Edo Kirby, Avo Jones, and Inez Etheridge, all of Red Boiling Springs, Tn, and Imo Dixon, Kempville,TN, Brother, Cortez Sadler, Red Boiling Springs, TN, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Whitley was a retired garment factory worker and cook and was a member of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

A native of Macon County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Everette Ray and Dixie Gorden Sloan Harper. She was married to Billy Royce Whitley on 25 August 1990, who survives. She worked 8 years at Celsor's Appliance and TV in LaFayette.

She was born Wednesday, July 21, 1915, in Macon County, TN, a daughter of the late Andrew Woods and Cynthis McClard Woods, and was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Bluff Missioanry Baptist Church for more than 60 years. She was married to Jesse Warner in 1929, and he passed away December 29, 1973.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Inez and Chug Storey, Hartsville, TN, and Jessie Mae Kelley, LaFayette, TN; one son and daughter-in-law, W.T. and Lallie Warner, of the Green Grove community; one sister, Lucy Eldridge, Bethpage, Tn; three brothers, Tommy Woods, Gallatin, TN; William Woods, Hartsville, TN; and Johnny Woods, Westmoreland, TN; a step-mother, Nancy Woods, Hartsville, TN; five grandchidlren, Larry White, Mike Warner, Ricky Storey, Barney Storey, and Nathan Storey; six great-grandchildren, Jennifer Storey, Adam Storey, Nick Storey, Dexter White, Kreig Storey, and Natalie Storey; one great-great-grandson, Austin Hunter, one step-grandson, Johnny White, and 2 step-great-grandchildren, Chad Hudson and Josh Campbell. He was a self-employed service representative working in the mobile home industry.

She was born Friday, August 23, 1918, in Macon County, TN, a daughter of the late Birgie Blankenship and Modie Harper Blankenship, and was a homemaker and wife of the late Wade Whittemore.

Survivors include two daughters, Lera Whittemore Taylor, Indianapolis, IN; and Evelyn Sircy, LaFayette, TN; four grandchildren, Arleen Acton, Ken Sircy, Keith Sircy, and J.J. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by 4 sons, Harold Wayne, Willie C., Robert Lewis, and Hillas Whittemore; a granddaughter, Sharon Pollak, and 2 brothers, Pete and Earl Blankenship.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, August 3, 1999 at the Alexander-Goad Funeral Home Chapel, LaFayette, TN with Mark Lanius officiating. Burial in Cold Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ken Sircy, Keith Sircy, Jon Blankenship, Damon Acton, Dan Acton and Wilie J. "Preacher" Blankenship.

Richard Williams,

age 87, of the Webbtown Community of Macon County, died Thursday, July 29, 1999 at Hendersonville Hospital in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He was born Thursday, July 25, 1912, in California, a son of the late Leslie A. Williams and Laura Craighead Williams. He was an army veteran of World War II, a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion and Long Fork Missionary Baptist Church and was a retired insurance salesman. He also formerly ran a feed store, owned LaFayette Produce Company, operated and ice house and a coal yard. On July 25, 1941, he was married to Versie McDonald Williams.

Survivors include his wife of over 58 years, Versie McDonald Williams of the Webbtown Community; two sons and daughters-in-law: Donald R. and Pam Williams, Springfield, TN; and Jackie and Virginia Williams, Gallatin, TN; two sisters, Rhoda Kemp and Mildred Dickens, both of LaFayette, TN; seven grandchildren, Melissa Cummins, Robin Williams, Brad Williams, Amber Williams, Paula Fulcher, Missy Beasley, and Maurisa Richardson; and seven great-grandchildren, Danielle Cummins, Zack Cummins, James Thurman, Drew Fulcher, Alli Fulcher, Kayleigh Beasley, and Kirsten Beasley. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Edgar Williams and Lewis Williams, and 2 sisters, Fleeta West and Ruby Cornwell, and a great-granddaughter, Ann Marie Fulcher.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 am, Saturday, July 31, 1999 at the Alexander-Goad Funeral Home Chapel, LaFayette, TN with Eld. Bruce Dawson officating. Burial was in Macon County Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers were John Wheely, Leo Whitley, Wendle Brawner, Ricky Joines, Richard Allen Williams and Joe Dickens. Honorary pallbearer was Williard Smith.

Mai Brawner Wright,

91, of Lafayette, Tn passed away Sunday afternoon 11 April 1999 at Royal Care of Westmoreland, in Sumner County, Tn. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, 13 April 1999 at 2:00 pm from the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in LaFayette by Elder Don Curtis and Elder Ricky Wilson. Pallbearers were: Justin West, Daniel Tucker, Steve Eller, William Beasley, Kenny Brawner. Interment was in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.

A native of Macon County, the daughter of the late Charlie Franklin and Maggie Uhles Brawner. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mrs. Iantha West and sisters, Mrs. Vadie Eller, Mrs. Pervie Ford, brothers, John Clemons, Arnett, Orphie, Willie, and Charlie Brawner. She was a member of the LaFayette Missionary Baptist Church and a sales clerk for the former Prissy Hen Dress Shop in LaFayette.

Survivors include sister, Mrs. Evelyn Beasley, Bethpage; granddaughter, Myglia Tucker, Hermitage; grandsons, Rickey West, Mt. Juliet, Barry West, Nashville; gr. granddaughter, Kayla West, Mt. Juliet; gr. grandsons, Justin West and Corey West both of Mt. Juliet, Daniel West of Hermitage, and Jesse West, Nashville; a host of nieces and nephews.

James Willard Wix,

65, of the Crosslanes Community, died Thursday, May 20, 1999 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin. He was born Friday, April 13, 1934, in Macon County, TN the son of the late William K. Wix and Maggie Jane Carver Wix. He was married on May 3, 1958 to Willia Jane Trammel, was a retired farmer, and a member of Miller's Chapel General Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Willia Jane Trammel Wix, of the Crosslanes Community; two sons, Horace William Wix, of the Ebenezer Community; and James Willard Wix, Jr., of the Crosslanes Community; two sisters, Dixie Harp, of the Oakdale Community, and Brownie Hoskins, of the Cedar Bluff Community; one brother, William Douglas Wix, of the Wixtown Community; and three grandchildren, Holly Ann Wix, Ashley Nicole Wix, and Amanda Sue Wix. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wix and an infant sister.

Funeral Services were conducted at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 22, 1999 at the Miller's Chapel General Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Wix officiating. Burial was in the Shrum Cemetery.

Patrick Ernest West

Funeral services for Mr. Patrick Ernest West, age 89, of Red Boiling Springs, TN, formerly of the Haydenburg Community in Jackson County, TN were conducted Sunday, May 30, 1999 at 2:00 pm from the Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Red Boiling Springs with Elder Jackie Stagner officiating. Interment was in the Whitley Cemetery in Red Boiling Springs. Pallbearers were: Neil Manning, Jessie York, Joshua York, Justin Evans, Jeremy Evans, and Jeffrey Evans.

Mr. Patrick Ernest West passed away Friday, May 28, 1999 at the Macon County General Hospital in LaFayette, TN.

He was a native of Jackson County, TN and one of eight children born to the late Asberry and Cora Grider West. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters making him the last family member to pass away. He was married to the former Vallee Whitley on November 6, 1932, who survives. He was a retired farmer and attended the Haydenburg Presbyterian Church.

Survivors besides his wife of 66 years include his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Mitchell Evans of LaFayette, TN, 4 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
