Bringing Revival, Renewal, and Restoration to all God's People
A Ministry where Jesus is Lord, and Everyone is Somebody
God/Yahweh has given us a vision of uniting together Christians from all churches & nations to go into each area of the world with the love of Christ. This coming together of the body of Christ enables us to fellowship with and learn from one another, working together with appreciation for the different strengths and gifts of each; our uniting together across all the divides of this world giving powerful testimony to the reality of Christ. John 17:20-21 "I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they may be one, as You, Father, are in me, and I in You; that they may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me."
We seek God and pray for His Holy Spirit to bring renewal (ie: rebirth, regeneration, restoration, rekindling, revitalization, replenishment and revival) to our lives and throughout the earth. Our purpose is that every minister and disciple of Christ may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col. 2:2-3).
Some of the thing you may see happening at Northshore Baptist Church
We Exalt Jesus - all of our activities and actions are directed towards exalting Jesus. It is His name, not our own, that we desire to magnify. May all the glory for all the awesome things He does in, through and for us be given to God, and Him alone. John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. We fervently desire to see revival (multitudes repenting and turning to Jesus with their whole heart) as we exalt Jesus in our lives and worship (Rom.12:1).
We Restore - facilitate healing of the wounded within the body of Christ and restoration to His service, including restoring exited pastors. Restoring ministers to the freedom to minister as God has called and directs them to. Minister with grace, integrity, love, mercy and Christ's anointing to heal the broken-hearted (Ps.34:17-18, 109: 21-31, 147:3, Isa. 61:1, Gal. 6:1-2).
We Equip - men and women to reach their potential and fulfill their call in Christ Jesus. Provide ministry resources to equip the saints for the work of the ministry, for building up the body of Christ (Eph.4:12).
We Release - members of the body of Christ into their calling and ministry. Encourage and stand with those who are called by God, yet their ministries are awaiting recognition within the Body of Christ. Ordain qualified ministerial and special ministry certificate candidates of either gender; provide membership status to qualifying churches and ministries; assist ministers and lay ministers in locating places of ministry and establishing their ministry in the church for worship and service and out into the world for the Great Commission. Mark 16:15...Go into all the world and preach the gospel.
We Support - facilitate affiliation within the body of Christ to encourage, share with and pray for one another that Jesus may be exalted, God glorified and His kingdom built; provide relational support (fellowship, encouragement, develop intimacy, accountability Heb.3:13); spiritual support (prayer and the ministry of the Word Acts 6:4, Eph.6:18-20); governance (servant leadership, promote ministerial integrity and support the uniqueness and God given call on each ministry Mat.20:26...whoever wants to become great among you must become your servant, I Tim.4:16, II Tim.2:15, 4:2, Titus 1:6-9); honor and promote each ministry.
Our church has a five-fold mission to respond to God's call through Worship, Evangelism, Discipleship, Ministry, and Fellowship. God calls us to worship Him in spirit and in truth and to spread the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are to develop a congregation of followers of Jesus Christ who are becoming more like Him each day, to serve God in His church and the world by meeting the needs and healing the hurts of others in the Name of Jesus. We provide opportunities for fellowship between believers, which enables them to identify closely with the Body of Christ. We accept the mission, relying on the presence and power of the Holy Spirit operating in and through us.
* It is the Mission of Northshore Baptist Church: To encourage its members according to God's mandate for a five-fold ministry; some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, for the maturing of the body for works of service, and expression of the fullness of God's supernatural gifts. We are called to help each individual walk in the fullness of their particular gifting in accordance with 1 Corinthians 12, in an expression of servanthood, with a particular emphasis on developing a prophetic community.
* It is the Mission of Northshore Baptist Church: To go into all the world and make disciples. We are dedicated to supporting and sending out missionaries both at home and abroad. We accept the personal charge that each of us are missionaries for the evangelism of our world. ( Acts 1:8)
* It is the Mission of the Northshore Baptist Church: To bring healing to the sick, hope to the hurting, food to the hungry, love to the lost. (Isaiah 61) We will purposefully provide ministries that express the personal care of Jesus Christ by ministering to the whole person--physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Five Fold Ministry
But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says: "When he ascended on high, he led captives in his train and gave gifts to men."(What does "he ascended" mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions? He who descended is the very one who ascended higher than all the heavens, in order to fill the whole universe.) It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ-Ephesians 4:7-13
Primarily as a result of this verse, some believe God has restored, or is restoring, the offices of apostles and prophet in the church today. Ephesians 4:12-13 tells us that the purpose of the five-fold ministry is, "to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."
So, since the body of Christ definitely is not built up to unity in the faith and has not attained to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ - the offices of apostle and prophet must still be in effect.
However, Ephesians 2:20 informs us that the church is, "built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone." If the apostles and prophets were the foundation of the church, are we still building the foundation? Hebrews 6:1-3 encourages us to move on from the foundation. Although Jesus Christ is most definitely active in the church today, His role as the cornerstone of the church was completed with His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension. If the work of the cornerstone is, in that sense, complete - so must the work of the apostles and prophets, who were the foundation.
What was the role of the apostles and prophets? It was to proclaim God's revelation, to teach the new truth the church would need to grow and thrive. The apostles and prophets completed this mission. How? By giving us the Word of God. The Word of God is the completed revelation of God. The Bible contains everything the church needs to know to grow, thrive, and fulfill God's mission. The cornerstone work of the apostle and prophets is complete. The ongoing work of the apostles and prophets is manifested in the Holy Spirit speaking through and teaching us God's Word. In that sense, the five-fold ministry is still active.
Northshore Baptist Church is an Interfaith Church in that we rely on the Holy Spirit ministering in and through us with His gifts and graces that Jesus may be exalted (Luke 24:49, Acts 2:4, Acts 10:44-47, Acts 19:6, Rom.12:6-9, I Cor:12-14, Gal.3:2, 5:16,22-25, Eph.4:11-12).
