The Music is at the bottom of the Page!

The great Carl Perkins left us today! He was born the son of a sharecropper in Tiptonville, Tn. in 1932. He died on Jan. 18th, 1997 at the age of 65. He first auditioned, with his bother, for Sam Phillips of Sun Records in 1954. He never got the notariety he deserved for writing and singing Blue Suede Shoes. He wrote the famous song on a paper bag at 3 a.m. one night, and Elvis did the rest! The suggestion came from Johnny Cash, and was nailed down after he heard a young man say to his girl at a high school dance "Uh-uh, don't step on my blue suede shoes." Carl also admitted he used the spelling "swade" Nobody could do justice to the song, but Carl! (Sorry E) Also the"cat" in "go cat go" was a mistake. Carl said it in a recording session, and it just stuck. It was supposed to be "go Man go." Take a look at the Lyrics.

His autobiography is in the book titled "Go Cat Go."
