Proud To Be of Native American Descent
Who we are We are a people of Cherokee descent , we can prove our heritage by family records or by affidavits of those who know us to be of Cherokee descent .
We are a confederation of individuals , families and bands. We are unincorperated , we have no tribal land base our members live in various areas of the nation , who have come together under one banner known as A Free Cherokee of Georgia, to celebrate our customs traditions and our culture as one people .
We are a free people, we elect our own principal chief, consel members and other officers as needed for the strength of the Free Cherokees of Georgia . Our Principal Chief and Counsel members are appointed for lifetime and unless someone wants to resign . Any others would be appointed by the remaining counsel member. Chiefs of allied bands will act as the advisory counsel .
We ask nothing from the federal ,state or local governments .We are a free people and only want it that way. We encourage our people to fellowship with all Native Americans and any non-Cherokee may become of A Free Cherokee by adoption who wish to become members. Our purpose is to bring together people of Native American descent and to raise the consciousness of the non Indian population to a fuller awareness of our past history culture and current status as Native Americans .
