Come, walk with me
and share my dreams
of mist shrouded mornings
beside shade covered streams.
Come, walk with me
and rejoice in the wonder
of a warm spring rain
the echo of distant thunder.
Come, walk with me
as songbirds soar overhead
and fragrant wildflowers
surround our green clover bed.
Come, walk with me
let me gaze into the eyes
that reflect the dazzling beauty
of clear country skies.
Come...
walk with me.

GRANDPA'S FRONT PORCH
Grandpa's front porch was worn and smooth
from three generations of heavy plowing shoes,
but no more.
The screen door constantly slammed from dawn to dusk,
it's hinges and springs creaking from a layer of rust,
but no more.
Grandpa would sit for hours in his old porch swing,
telling us kids of the changes he'd seen,
but no more.
My grandpa died seven years ago this fall,
leaving nothing but memories for us all,
forever more.
