On May 24th, 2000, the historic Ryman Auditorium was to offer Nashvillians an evening of sublime beauty. Label executives and sountrack producers so loved the music of O Brother, Where Are Thou? that they brought it to life as a "live" concert for the Country Music Hall Of Fame."
Without the deep appreciation of Joel and Ethan Coen of the music that we do, the O Brother movie would have never happened. The hunger for emotional truth gave us our multi-million dollar music industry. This is not the watered down pop-rock music of today with its greeting card lyrics. This is real music. You might not hear it on the radio, but you will feel it in your heart. As Joel Coen puts it, "The film is a valentine to the music."
May 24, 2000 was a night of healing, a night that restored the spirit, a night of blessings and wonder. Many wonderful things happened spiritually on that day in the year 2000. The ghosts of country's most revered venue rested easy that night. We all did.
