Producer Of The Year Awards
Producer Robert Metzgar, celebrates at the Producer Of The Year awards ceremony in Nashville with superstar Jennifer LeClere, his daughter Cayce Michelle Metzgar and actress/model Mandi Lee Sheen. Mr. Metzgar was Cashbox Magazine's Producer of The Year five years in succession. He was elected to the Legends Hall Of Fame for having 11 single records, all produced by Mr. Metzgar in the Hot Country Singles Charts at one time, during one week, and all with bullets in February 1994. This feat has never before or since been accomplished in country music history.* See Cashbox Magazine Charts for February 1994. Later in the same year, Mr. Metzgar had 14 single records in the Hot Country Music Singles Chart all charted at one time. *See Cashbox Magazine Charts for September 1994. During a 5 year run, Robert Metzgar's label Platinum Plus Records dominated over 20% of all the chart action nationally in the Cashbox Magazine country charts.

The Metzgar Family Background
Robert Metzgar's family were Jewish immigrants to the United States from Hamburg, Germany. His family fled Germany to escape the war. Robert's great, great grandparents were Johannes and Hannah Metzgar, and his great, grandparents were William Amos Metzgar and Susan-Miller Metzgar who were Orthodox Jews living in Germany prior to WWII. Their small store was fire-bombed by the Nazi Germans and they left Hamburg with the clothes on their back and came to the United States via Boston harbor. These two generations of Metzgars remained Orthodox Jews until their death. Robert Metzgar's grandfather, John Clinton Metzgar was actually born on the ship while enroute to the United States from Germany.
Mr. Metzgar's grandfather John Clinton Metzgar, fell in love and married a girl from Pennsylvania. Ida Leo Nora Medaris. He settled in Freestone County Texas as a sharecropper and farmer. Ida Medaris' family has a long and distinguished history in the United States as decorated Revolutionary War Heroes and Civil War Heroes in the Union Army of Pennsylvania. John Clinton Metzgar and his wife converted to the Southern Methodist Church and raised their family in the Methodist Church. They are both buried in Freestone County Texas. William D. Metzgar is the father of Billy, David, Robert, Paul and Janie Metzgar. He married an orphan, Janie West "baby girl" Orphan from the Buckner's Baptist Home For Girls. William D. Metzgar was converted to the Assemblies of God church under the evangelistic ministry of Robert Hankins, Mr. Metzgar's namesake. Robert Hankins has a son Billy Bob Hankins who is a minister and a grandson who is a missionary. Robert Metzgar spent a great deal of his early life abroad in foreign countries, under the influence of Youth With A Mission founder Loren Cunningham. He worked for David Wilkerson at World Challenge and traveled abroad in missionary crusades with Walter & Elsie Kornelsen who were Assemblies of God missionaries to Africa. Mr. Metzgar was himself a minister and pastor for a short time until he entered the music business full time.
Mr. Metzgar's parents William & Janie Metzgar served their entire life for others and gave themselves unselfishly to the ministry of missions, pastoring, and missionary work abroad. Mr. Metzgar's parents are both deceased and buried in Freestone County Texas. Robert Metzgar's father was an accomplished banjo and guitar player. He rarely played in public, but often played for his children at home. Robert Metzgar's mother, Janie Metzgar, was an accomplished singer/songwriter and played the piano. Robert D. Metzgar produced his first Gospel music album in Nashville in 1971 with the assistance of Mrs. Lou Hildreth. Since that time, Mr. Metzgar has produced over 50,000 sides of music in the city of Nashville in both the country, pop, and Gospel music fields. While Robert Metzgar was born in Texas in the 1950's and relocated to Nashville, he considers Tennessee his home. "I appreciate the City of Nashville giving me the opportunity to develop my talent here through the years. I also appreciate the influence of producers Larry Butler, Billy Sherrill, James Stroud, Mark Wright and Scott Hendricks who are all so profoundly successful in country music. I look at their work like looking at the great treasures of the world in an art gallery."
Robert Metzgar will celebrate his 35th year in music in 2006 and continues to produce a limited number of clients each year. He turns down many artists because he simply doesn't have the time to produce everyone who asks him to get involved with their career. Mr. Metzgar specifically looks for clients that have tremendous ability in songwriting, performance, and recording skills and an overwhelming desire to be a part of the music industry. Mr. Metzgar has been elected to the Producer's Hall of Fame, the Legends Hall Of Fame, the Academy Of International Recording Artists Hall Of Fame, and in 2005 was nominated as Texas Producer of the Year as a part of the Texas Music Awards. Mr. Metzgar was elected to the West Texas Music Hall Of Fame in the year 2005 in the Pioneers Of Bluegrass Section.
