MOVIE RELEASE DATE WHAT IS IT? WHO DOES BRAD PLAY? WHEN WAS IT MADE?
HERSCHEL HOPPER: NEW YORK RABBIT Downloadable at
rumpus.com
The first ever Internet-only movie, Herschel Hopper is a 45-minute animated family feature about a scruffy rabbit who gets accidentally sent to NYC and finds himself in the middle of everything. Featuring an all-star cast of voices, Herschel Hopper appears to be a good project, although the Flash animation might be a challenge since it's so revolutionary for the industry. Tanner, Herschel's best friend, "a really cool kid" who works at a pet shop. Announced early last March, Brad went to New York March 10-12 to record his voice readings.
SKIPPED PARTS January 2001, (limited release) Based on a trashy Tim Sandlin novel, Skipped Parts tells the tale of Sam Callahan, a 14-year-old who is more mature than his mother (Jennifer Jason Leigh). Drew Barrymore appears in a cameo. Directed by Tamra Davis (Billy Madison). Rated R. More info here and here. Dothan Talbot, an obnoxious jock who is admired by all the girls and picks on Sam. Filming has long since wrapped, but Trimark Pictures has pushed back its release from this past August to early next year.
GHOST WORLD January 2001 Based on a comic book, two girls (American Beauty's Thora Birch and The Horse Whisperer's Scarlett Johansson) graduate from high school and examine their relationship when one considers attending college across the country. Many young actresses expressed interest in the lead roles including Leelee Sobieski. Steve Buscemi (Armageddon) and Ileana Douglas (Stir of Echoes) co-star in this film, which despite the title, has nothing to do with the supernatural. This film actually sounds decent (compared to the others) and at least will display some eye candy with the two lead hotties. For pictures from production, click here. More information... Brad plays an obnoxious slacker the girls have a crush on. See a trend? Wrapped filming and set for an early 2001 release.
TART Nobody knows, but maybe 2001 Dominique Swain (she's pretty hot, check out her photo gallery at FHM) stars as a teenage girl who strives to gain acceptance at her prestigious high school in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. With a backdrop of the world of sex and drugs among a crowd of teens in the 1980s, this Interlight Pictures coming-of-age drama is somewhat like Cruel Intentions, only more graphic and more crude. Co-starring Bijou Phillips, the film also features Melanie Griffith in a cameo. Official Site. More information... William, the most popular and best-looking guy in his school. Filmed in NY in Fall '99. With filming done, now in post-production. The film is currently seeking distribution...doubt it will get anything more than limited release at most.
HAPPY CAMPERS May 4, 2001 (but NewLine has been pushing it back for a year now, so don't hold your breath) "Dark comedy with a heart" is about a group of college freshman who work as counselors at a summer camp. When the camp counselor (Peter Stormare) gets hurt, the teens take over and run things their own way. From Daniel Waters (writer/director of Heathers), Happy Campers co-stars Face/Off's Dominique Swain, and Emily Bergl (The Rage: Carrie 2). Publicity site. More info... Wichita, a mischievous, laid back teen. Shot in 1999 in North Carolina. Production has wrapped but New Line has pushed the film back from summer to fall to February 2001 and now at the beginning of May (typically the start of the summer movie season).
  DEUCES WILD March 2001
Set in 1958 Brooklyn, this film focuses on the changes which take place in the lives of a group of young people during the year when their beloved Dodgers move to Los Angeles. Brad is part of an ensemble cast, which includes Matt Dillon (There's Something About Mary), Frankie Muniz ("Malcolm in the Middle"), Fairuza Balk (The Craft, The Waterboy), Deborah Harry, Norman Reedus, Vincent Pastore, Stephen Dorff (Blade), and Balthazar Getty (Lord of the Flies). The problems the youths face include crime, drugs, and gangs--the movie has been described as West Side Story without the music. Directed by Scott Kalvert (The Basketball Diaries) and executive-produced by the legendary Martin Scorsese, this United Artists film is sure to be a large production. More information... Unclear, other than one of the young people in Brooklyn. Began filming in Los Angeles on April 24. Has since ended.
DELILAH Sometime 2001; likely in limited release
Psychological thriller indy film about a plain middle-aged woman (Kathleen Turner) who gets involved with a beautiful young woman and an invalid boy at the same time. More information... Jules, an ex-college football star, who is now an invalid. Most likely won't materialize, at least not with Brad in it. But until I have word otherwise, I'll continue listing it here.
BULLY TBA 2001 Based on a true story, this film is being helmed by the controversial director of NC17-rated Kids. Story is about a bully (hence the title) played by Nick Stahl (Man Without a Face, Disturbing Behavior) One of the bully's "friends" Began filming the end of August. Should be a long way from release.

So there you have it, it seems like Brad is taking less major roles now and is appearing in films with a less mainstream audience (with the exception of Happy Campers, Deuces Wild and possibly Ghost World). In any event, don't look for any Clients here. With a few exceptions, these films look more like Brad's work in Telling Lies in America than his better earlier work. Of the eight films listed here, one was "released" (Herschel), five have finished filming entirely (Happy Campers, Skipped Parts, Tart, Ghost World, and Deuces Wild), one (Bully) is in production, and one (Delilah) is probably non-existent.
