The Faery Tradition

Welcome to those new ones who have found my site.  I decided to  put a beginner's section on here because I know how hard it is to get started.  I was new myself once upon a time.

The way I began was real slow.  I did a lot of research before I made up my mind to dedicate myself to wicca.  The research included lots of reading and then lots of internet searches.  For those on a tight budget, buying books will be hard, but it will payoff in the long run.  The more you know about wicca and what it means, the better informed you are to make a definite decision.  After all of that, I began attending circle at a few different covens in my area to see what covens were like.  I finally settled with a coven in Clarksville, TN.  The High Priestess was a good friend who then became my teacher.  Later, I moved on to more advanced studies with a new teacher.  Now, I am on my own as a third degree priestess in Knoxville, TN.

As far as books go, I began with Silver Ravenwolf and Scott Cunningham.  Their books are the most readable and truly show you about wicca, but then emphasize that you need to do what is comfortable for you.  There is no "one way".  Many authors and coven members will say that their way is the only way, but that is not true.  Wicca allows you to walk the path in any direction.  Just be comfortable.

For the internet sites, just check out my favorite links page.  However, do your own searches with words like wicca, witchcraft, witch, and any wiccan tradition you find interesting, i.e. Faery Wicca or Celtic Wicca.

One other decision you will want to make is whether or not you want to be a part of a coven or practice solitary.  This comes much later, but will eventually need to be done.  If there are no covens in your local area, you may have to choose solitary or drive a long way.  Either way you go, it cannot be wrong.  Many witches choose solitary because they like to work alone.  Whatever works for you.  I chose coven life because I found a coven that took me in like family from the beginning.  I liked the family feeling of a group and the ability to learn from everyone involved.

Do not hesitate to ask questions of anyone you encounter in your wiccan journey.  When you find internet sites you like, e-mail the owner for more information or specific questions you may have.  We, the site owners, are here for you.

Best wishes to you on your journey!  Let me know how your journey is going from time to time.  Everyone's path is unique and interesting.

May the Lord and Lady Bless You on Your Way!
