I remember my Dad making peanut butter
and banana sandwiches when I was a kid.
These recipes are my tribute to that memory.

Fried Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich (Elvis' personal favorite)
This is reported to be the recipe that Gladys (Elvis' Mom) used for the King:
2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
2 slices white bread
2 tablespoons margarine
1 ripe banana
Spread peanut butter extra thick between slices of bread. Melt margarine in frying pan over medium heat. Brown sandwich on both sides in melted margarine. As sandwich browns, mash banana. Remove browned sandwich from pan, gingerly pry open, and spread mashed banana among warm peanut butter. Serve immediately while still warm. Eat with knife and fork. Serve with a 8 oz. glass of milk.
Recipe #2
Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich (Jim Abbott's personal favorite)
This is how I remember my dad doing it -- He was from Mississippi, too:
1 ripe banana
2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
2 slices white bread
Mash banana in a bowl with a fork. Blend in peanut butter. Spread on bread and eat it fast before it turns black. You can increase the quantities for more people - but remember to eat it fast -- That's very important. I think Daddy ate his with milk, too -- that should be *whole* milk.
Recipe #3
Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich (Alternate recipe that Elvis was supposed to like)
Peanut Butter
1 Banana
2 slices of bread
Toast the bread. Slice the banana. Spread peanut butter on both sides of toasted bread, then layer with banana slices. Heat in frying pan until warm all the way through. You're still going to want to serve immediately while still warm -- and you probably need that milk.
