John Battle
John Battle was born about 1690 in Surry Co., Virginia. He is the son of John Battle and Margaret Sowersby. John
married Mary Warden. John died by April 1774 in Edgecombe Co., North Carolina. His wife, Mary died September 18, 1754
in Surry Co., Virginia. John reported that she died of cancer, he moved to Edgecombe Co., North Carolina sometime
after her death. John and Mary had six children: Thomas Battle, John Battle, William Battle, James Battle, Sarah Battle, and
Amery(Amy)Battle.
- Thomas Battle was born about 1721 in Surry Co., Virginia, he died 1769 in Onslow Co., North Carolina. He married Mary Capell.
They had five children: Frederick Battle, Phoebe Battle, Lucy Battle, Ephraim Battle, and Thomas Battle.
- John Battle was born in Surry Co., Virginia, he died December 5, 1776 in Rutherford Co., North Carolina. He married Sarah
Capell(daughter of Thomas Capell and the sister of Mary Capell). They had six children: Noel William Battle, Hartwell Battle, John Battle, Nancy Ann Battle
William Battle, and Angelica(Angelina)Battle.
- William Battle was born in 1728 in Surry Co.,Virginia, he died 1785 in Nash Co., North Carolina. Thomas married Mary Capell(daughter of John Capell). They had three children:
William Battle, James Battle, and John Battle.
- James Battle was born about 1730 in Surry Co., Virginia.
- Sarah Battle was born in Surry Co., Virginia.
- Amery(Amy)Battle was born in Surry Co., Virginia. She married Samuel Bell.
