Mission Statement

“Living for Jesus and Loving One Another” are not empty words strung together to create a catchy vision statement. We at First United Methodist Church of Chula Vista are dedicated to living Jesus’ most important commands: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22: 37-39

At First UMC, everyone is invited to experience the passion of Christ in a loving, welcoming and spirit-filled environment. Our doors are open to everyone, no matter where you are in your search for a relationship with Jesus Christ. We are a diverse, inter-generational family of worshipers with vast experiences and levels of spiritual maturity. We are blessed to share in the knowledge and life lessons of our brothers and sisters.

In the spirit of embracing the diversity that blesses us, we offer five unique worship experiences each weekend:

Saturdays at 6:00pm: Contemporary worship service complete with praise band and a relevant, thought-provoking message.
Sundays at 8:00am: Praise worship with communion every week.
Sundays at 9:30am: Traditional service with full Sanctuary Choir.
Sundays at 11:15am: Blended contemporary service.
Domingo 11:15am: Reunión en Español.
