The Resurrection of Jesus Christ

When Jesus died on the cross, Satan and his followers thought they had achieved a great victory but they were never mistaken. After three days, Jesus rose from the grave with a mighty truimph over Satan and the powers of darkness. Jesus came and spoke unto them saying, "All power is given unto Me in Heaven and in earth." (Matt 28:18).

There was a great earthquake. An angel of the Lord came down and rolled back the stone. The Roman soldiers were so fearful, they became as dead men. Later, three women came to bring spices to put on the body of Jesus, according to their custom. When they arrived at the tomb, they found the stone rolled away. An angel spoke to them saying,"Fear not... for I know that you seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." (Matt 28:5,6).

The women saw that the body of Jesus was no longer in the tomb. They were puzzled and afraid. They ran to tell the disciples. Later, Mary Magdalene returned to the tomb. As she was standing outside the tomb weeping, the Lord Jesus appeared to her. Jesus said, "Mary." She turned and recognized Him. She exclaimed, "Master!" Jesus appeared to His disciples in a closed room where they were talking about strange things that had happened that day. Thomas, one of the twelve disciples was not with them. Suddenly, Jesus appeared in their midst. He said, "Peace be unto you." The disciples were afraid and thought they were seeing a ghost or a spirit. The Lord Jesus said, "Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself: handle Me, and see; for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see Me have."

Eight days later, the Lord Jesus appeared to them saying, "Peace be unto you." Jesus said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here and put it into My side. Do not doubt, but believe." Thomas did not doubt any longer. He worshipped Jesus saying, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to Thomas, " Because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."

Jesus appeared to His disciples early one morning by the seashore. They had fished all night and had caught nothing. Jesus said, "Cast your net on the right side of the ship." The disciples obeyed the Lord and their net was filled with fish. When the disciples came ashore, Jesus prepared a meal for them. He said, "Come and dine." The Lord Jesus appeared on earth for forty days after His resurrection. He appeared to over 500 believers at one time . People saw him and talk with Him personally. They knew that He was alive.

Just before Jesus ascended back to Heaven, He appeared to His disciples on a mountain in Galilee. Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, "All power is given unto Me in Heaven and in earth." (Matt 28:18). Jesus gave His disciples this command: "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15). The word "gospel" means "good news." The "good news" is that Christ died for our sins and rose again from the dead to be our living Saviour. Jesus then gave them a wonderful promise. He said, "Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." (Matt 28:20).

The bible tells us that, when Jesus returned to Heaven, God the Father gave Him the place of greatest honor. He set the Lord Jesus at His own right hand. He made Jesus Lord of all! Jesus Christ has all power in Heaven and in earth.
