The Vesuvian Chess Team was born in 2002 by the initiative of its captain Salvatore Montella in order to create a competitive chess team for the new Champions League tournament. He found his strong team mates on the ASIGC website where they were still waiting to join a team, so it was a great chance for all of them to create a competitive team that could fight for the first positions in the group.

After a difficult fight on all the boards in the preliminaries, the Team has successfully qualified for League B in the 1st season !

The best congratulations go to all the players for their dedication and their efforts in always achieving the best from every game. Unfortunately some mistakes characterized some games compromising good positions, otherwise the team could have fought for 1st place vs Penelopa.
