PLB Rules Against More Alaska Airlines Cases

December 2009

In December 2008 the Public Law Board ruled against more Local 84 members caught up in the Alaska Airlines Mileage case. Previously, the PLB had ruled against Local 84 members who had actually used their accumulated miles and took airline flights. This time the PLB ruled against Local 84 members who had accumulated miles but had not taken any flights.

Unfortunately, this is the last level of appeal for those members terminated over this issue.

These brothers and sisters are in much despair because now they know that they will never again work with you on the Amtrak side of the rails. Some fortunate ones have hired out with Metrolink. Others have moved on to other careers. Still others are looking for direction in their lives. All deserve some amount of consideration and respect from those not affected. We will miss you and vice versa. If there is some good in this, it could be to remind us of the fact that to the carrier, no matter how good an employee you are, you're only as good as your last mistake.
