If you see a radio stamped 27/81 on Yahoo or Ebay you might not want to get it for communications in the USA! These are not standard CB's at all. They transmit off band in the above 40CH range but start on CH1 at 27.60125 and end at 27.99125 and are FM RADIOS ONLY!

You will not find these type radios with AM/SSB since its illegal to operate in the UK with anything else than FM.

Hello, Just a note on CEPT (PR27 GB) these radios are still allowed in the UK but are on the less popular EURO band 26.965 to 27.405Mhz FM. Many sets are 27/81or now known as PR27/94, but since 1997 we have PR27/97 for UK use only which is both sets of channels in one box (see maycom em27). The UHF cb system CB/934/81 has been withdrawn though I still Have one in my collection. Hope this info is of interest. Regards DarkShadow (John) UK.

This is another Radio System to stay away from. These radios are popping up on Ebay because they can't use these radio's anymore in the UK. I think that Australia is the same way but not sure 100%
