HOW THIS GOT STARTED - WHAT DO WE DO - WHAT'S GOING ON?
This ministry came into being days after May 31, 2002, when a "macroburst" (different from a microburst) storm left severe damage in many communities in Allegheny County, including East McKeesport, Homestead, Munhall, West Mifflin, Whitaker and Pittsburgh. Many families in these communities were left with damaged homes and no electricity for several days.
The day following the macroburst, while
watching the news
coverage on the storm, two things became very bothersome. 1) There were many
people in great need 2) There were no true Christian
organizations/churches helping these people or sharing the hope that can be
found in Jesus.
This had laid heavy on our hearts for days.. While praying for the people who
were in need, I began to think about other disasters that have hit around this
area. For example: Before T.R.M., my street was 
completely flooded,
which was quite an experience. The Lord had reminded me of how there
was not one true Christian organization/church that had come to help. I
had remembered how my wife and I at the time had thought what a shame that was.
After thinking about all this I was even more upset. I started seeking God as to what could be done. These people are in serious need and there was no true Christian churches helping and sharing Jesus with them. How can these people possibly know? Then God asked me a simple question.. He said, "What alternative have you given them?" Wow!! That really hit home.. Here I was gripping about this situation and never thought about what I could do about it. God reminded me of Matthew 9: 37
: Then He [Jesus] said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Meaning, there is a lot of work to do, but there is not enough workers. Therefore, we will need to take on extra work (ummm a lot of extra work).After the Lord had revealed all of this, we at TRM discussed and prayed about the idea of a disaster relief effort outreach. Needless to say, the rest fell into place and TRM's Relief Effort Ministry began.
Back to topWhat we're doing is something every human being can do, which is...give a hand in a time of need. We have put together two relief teams who are equipped with tools, cleaning supplies, first aid kits, blankets, etc. In addition, we will supply water, pop, iced tea, sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.. The idea is to help out in anyway we can. Whether it's helping someone fix damage that's been done to their home, help clean up flooded rooms, and/or at very least be there to offer some thing to eat and drink. Sometimes just a small effort like passing out pop or water can go a long ways.
MATTHEW 24:31-40Most importantly, we want to share Jesus with the people.
Sadly, most people are not willing 
to listen until something tragic hits them personally. It's these moments when it becomes easy to feel hopeless, depressed and wonder where God is in all of this chaos.
We at TRM want to share with them a message; a message of hope when there doesn't seem to be any hope; that hope being Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

There is nothing that God can't help us through. He alone is our hope in this world, whether we face a natural disaster or not. All one has to do is give Jesus a chance. However, someone needs to tell them and I don't mean by shoving it on them. Our teams will offer to pray with the people, we will share our experience walking with the Lord and we will show them real love. One thing about TRM; we are down to earth and we know all about hard times and how the Lord can get you through those times!! JESUS Back to topWe are living in a time that scientist are calling, "great seismic disturbance". Today we see so many natural disasters hitting our world. As the years go on; the number of hits increase. 
According to the Universal Almanac, between 1900 and 1950, there were 33 major quakes-almost as many as the number in the preceding 1,850 years! Between 1950 and 1991 there were 93 major earthquakes-- almost triple the number of the previous half century-which claimed the lives of 1.3 million people around the world. Between 1992-2001 there were 171 major earth-quakes-- That's 5 TIMES the amount between 1900--1950!!!
Earthquakes are just one out of many disasters we face.
Hurricane can leave thousands of people out of a home and billions of dollars in repairs. 
Hurricane Hugo's total storm damage for the Southeastern United States and Caribbean exceeded $9 billion. With winds of 78 - 138 mph there is very little one can do but head for safety.
Tornadoes can be worse because it's hard to know when they're going to hit. They could hit within minutes, where as a hurricane is seen sometimes days before it hits. Because of this, many people in tornado areas don't have time to get to safety. According to US Disaster Center, between 1950-1997, 4225 people were killed by tornadoes. This does not count the thousands who were injured and the many more that lose their homes or had their homes damaged. The tornado that hit Oklahoma City on May 3, 1999 caused over 1 billion dollars in damage and destroyed over 2500 structures.
According to the
NOAA, just between 1980- 2001 the US alone has lost over $221-TRILLION dollars to natural disasters (extreme weather i.e. drought, storms (including hurricanes), flooding and fires ). Again, let me say, that's just in the US! I don't think I can even fathom the $amount globally.The question people begin to ask is why are there so much natural disasters hitting our planet? Well, I believe we are living in what the BIBLE calls, "The End Days". In Mathew 24 Jesus told us what to look for as signs that the end was near. Along with these disasters many more things were told to us and are coming to pass right before our eyes. I believe our Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST is coming back soon for His people. Though it is impossible to know when He is exactly coming back, we do know the signs are there and we must be ready. Mark 13:32-37
