Changing your exhaust system is another common change found for a performance increase. Changing the exhaust is the way to gain the most hp for one particular upgrade.
| The first upgrade that can be done to change the exhaust is to change the header. The header is the part of the exhaust that actually joins onto the motor. Another name for the header is exhaust-manifold. Changing the header can give you about 10 hp by eliminating back-pressure caused by too small of a pipe that actually slows airflow rather than promote it. Usually this gives you power both at the low RPM and the high RPM. | ![]() |
| After the change of the header the next part of the exhaust should be changed. This is called a cat-back exhaust. This type of exhaust is bolted on after the catalytic converter. By changing the pipe diameter after the converter by about half and inch or sometimes more you can gain another 10 hp. | ![]() |
