Witnessing
Another day in the world. Whether it is going to school or your job, we dread having to do such things. How about making a change? In going to school, I know from experience that we all want to be cool and do what everybody else is doing. If you think about it, in an odd way, this can be how it is at work too. Not everybody is spreading the word of God, but we need to. We have to be on fire for God. Make your friends and co-workers notice a change in you. So it’s not cool? SO WHAT! Don’t be afraid to tell people about God. Here is a verse to help you out along the way: 2 Timothy 1:8-9. It says: 8 So do not be ashamed to testify about out Lord, or ashamed of his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us to a holy life- not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Jesus Christ before the beginning of time.
So make a difference and show those around you that you follow God. I have inclosed at the bottom of the page another article I wrote with some tips for witnessing. Make those around you notice, and most importantly: Be strong and couragous, do not be terrified, and do nto be discouraged. The Lord God will be with you wherever you go.
Tips For Witnessing
What does 2 Timothy 1:8-9 mean to you? You need to realize that if you are trying to save people that it can take a great amount of time. Be patient and don’t let up. If I were you, I would go at it in a slow, yet effective way. Just get talking to them. It helps if you really get to know them. You need to know their story and let them know your story. Don’t go right out and tell them that they are a sinner! Maybe you could ask if they go to church, if so where they go to church, and just get to know them a little better.
Next, I would express to them that you have a great joy and you feel that you are going to go to heaven. Tell them your opinion. Let them know that you care for them and you are only trying to help them. You should try to see if they are interested now that you might have their attention.
You could ask them a few more questions. Here are some examples of some:
Would you like to except Jesus Christ as your personal savior?
Do you know that you have sinned?
If so, do you want your sins to be forgiven?
Are you ready to live a better and more holy life?
If they answer yes to these, they are ready to become a Christian. Now you want to pray with them so that they may become a Christian. Here is an example of the type of prayer that you can help them with:
Dear God,
I know that I have sinned and I am sorry. I would like you to come into my life and forgive me of my sins. I am ready to grow spiritually and live a better life. I believe that Jesus died on the cross to forgive me of my sins. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
They have to really mean this prayer too. They can’t just say it without meaning it. Don’t push them into it. This is a voluntary thing. Before they pray, you need to express to them that they should just speak from their heart. When they are ready, they can just tell God what they are feeling. When we pray, we are communicating with God.
Once you have made this decision, you need to tell somebody about it. It can be a friend, a parent, a pastor, or whoever you want to know.
