Scene 1: The Power of Delusion

Wish I may, wish I might
Have this I wish tonight
Are you satisfied?
Dig for gold, dig for fame
You dig to make your name
Are you pacified?

All the wants you waste
All the things you've chased

Chorus:
Then it all crashes down
And you break your crown
And you point your finger
But there's no one around
Just want one thing
Just to play the king
But the castle's crumbled
And you're left with just a name

Where's your crown, King Nothing?
Where's your crown?

Hot and cold, bought and sold
A heart as hard as gold
Are you satisfied?
Wish I might, wish I may
You wish your life away
Are you pacified?

All the wants you waste
All the things you've chased

[Chorus]

I wish I may, I wish I might
Have this wish I wish tonight
I want that star, I want it now
I want it all and I don't care how

Careful what you wish
Careful what you say
Careful what you wish, you may regret it
Careful what you wish, you just might get

[Chorus]

Nothing

You're just nothing
Where's your crown, King Nothing?
You're just nothing
Absolutely nothing

Off to never-never land

Everyone needs a calm, relaxing day if for nothing else, to get away from the doldrums of repetitiveness of mentally and physically training for a match. Shiv is no different. In order to separate himself from his daily routines, he needed to remove himself from all the familiar places in his life. What is he doing? He is kicking back in a lawn chair by a local lake with a fishing pole in hand. That coupled with shades over his eyes and a cold drink in hand, have created the perfect getaway.

Since being at his current fishing spot before sunrise until late morning, not many people, or fish for that matter, had been spotted by him. As much as he desires all the attention in the ring, outside, he prefers the opposite. He can't remember desiring companionship, except for the few months that passed after his mother's death. The only person who he somewhat enjoys being around is Amber.

Shiv smiles. The only person he enjoys being around is someone he really knows nothing about. Sure, they've talked off camera, but nothing specific or personal. Shiv's mind wanders back to a new past-time for himself, realizing just how pleasant this is. Just as he begins to focus, he hears someone coming. Before he can turn around, he hears a familiar voice...

Amber: Hey Mark! Fish biting?

Shiv smiles for a second, and instead of speaking, he reels in his line to show an intact night-crawler still on his hook. Amber laughs...

Amber: You aren't very good at this, are you?

Shiv turns around in response and is rendered speechless by her appearance. Amber is wearing blue cut-offs with a light blue bikini top. Shiv returns to his fishing pole and recasts, trying not to show any physical attractiveness...

Shiv: Please have a seat.

She nods and sits down in a lawn chair beside him, a few feet to his right...

Shiv: Let me guess, another day off?

Amber shakes her head...

Amber: Ha! Not so much. I decided I would take the afternoon off when you mentioned a lake. Even though I am still technically working, it is a little more comfortable in this. Especially in his heat...

Shiv: Nice loop hole!

Amber smiles...

Amber: I thought so too. So, I am sure you didn't bring me out here to show off your inability to catch fish, so what's so special about this place?

Shiv: Nothing.

Amber: Nothing?!

Amber turns to Shiv, quizzical...

Shiv: No, I needed to relax for a day and I just couldn't think of anything more relaxing. Mind if I start? I have a few words for Fozzy.

Amber reaches to her side below the chair and picks up a small camcorder she brought with her...

Amber: You sure like to get down to business, don't you?

Shiv turns to her, and with the shock of her appearance worn off, nods. His expression changes when Amber gives the cue that she's starting to record...

Shiv: You know something Fozzy? I really did misjudge you for a while there. Despite your lack of focus sometimes, I thought what you said was based on confidence. I was wrong. You aren't confident, you're delusional. Not just in the ring, either. I warned you that if you were to be a challenge for me, you'd have to be mentally ready.

Shiv begins reeling in his line...

Shiv: See, you just didn't get it. You show yourself on a throne as if you're some kind of king or something, when really you're nothing more than a clown. I can see why you were hired. Every business needs someone with a little talent who can provide some humor. You think you're a king, but you're not even close.

Shiv brings his pole closer and reaches out and grabs his hook. After a few seconds, he has another worm. He secures the worm around the hook and casts it back out into the lake...

Shiv: Let me give you an analogy. You remind me of a monkey, a monkey who aspires to touch the moon. Deeper and deeper he sinks, not realizing that all he is chasing after is the reflection...

Shiv reaches and brings his drink up to him. After taking a swig, he sets it down and continues...

Shiv: Your delusion goes even further. I heard your sob story about your career and about how tough your life has been. So what? You think you are due because you had it rough? You think you are the only one? Well, you aren't son. See, since you aren't the only one, I don't give a damn.

Shiv: All you proved by that boring story is that you aren't in my league. The fact that the heavyweight title eluded you so long is a testament of one thing; you aren't championship material. Since you aren't, you may continue to chase it, but people like me will always drown you.

Shiv begins reeling in his line again. He notices that there is only half a worm left. Amber laughs at him...

Amber: You really do suck at fishing.

Shiv shrugs and sets the pole down, then continues...

Shiv: Fozzy, just like I can't fish, you CAN'T beat me! So, declare yourself a king. Be the heavyweight twitter champion, or whatever the hell you said. Just understand what I am saying. I have the heavyweight titles with very long reigns. I succeeded where you have failed. Everything you want to aspire to be, I have been. I will show you the difference between someone who is way over their head, and someone who rises to the occasion! That's not cocky, that's the truth!

Amber turns off the camcorder, knowing he is finished. Shiv looks at her...

Shiv: Now, teach me how to fish!
