On being a Dale Jr. fan

From: Barbara in Maine
I believe Dale Jr. is fulfilling the legacy of his father wonderfully well. He is so talented. He also seems to be so humble, and down to earth.

For me...Nascar and Dale Jr. have (sort of) given me a reason to enjoy life again. For the last 7 years have been in a deep depression because of the loss of my husband of 39 years. Couldn't seem to get over it. Then decided to retire when I turned 65 in 2000. Had all kinds of bad things happen, but started to watch the races to keep my mind busy .

I was (with my husband)a Dale Sr. fan, too. When we lost Dale Sr., I watched this young man grow up right before out eyes. I know how he feels when you lose someone you love. They say he's a little "wild" off the track, but I read one of his diaries, and he says he has mellowed. I do hope so, he has such a bright future. He will become Champion some day, and I hope I live to see it.....I adore him, and at my age that might seem silly, but I just think he's the best there is right now. I have a dream, I want to meet him in person, and get to see a race in person, before I leave this world.

I have written a poem for Dale.....someday I will share it with you. Never written anything ever before. I hope he wins Most Popular Driver.

Well that's my story, If anyone ever sees him, tell him there's a Grammy in Maine that is his biggest senior citizen fan.
