Basic Definitions
- Cloud - A visible body of very fine water droplets or ice particles suspended in the atmosphere at altitudes ranging up to several miles above sea level
- Storm - An atmospheric disturbance manifested in strong winds accompanied by rain, snow, or other precipitation and often by thunder and lightning
- Rain - Water condensed from atmospheric vapor and falling in drops
- Tornado - A rotating column of air ranging in width from a few yards to more than a mile and whirling at destructively high speeds, usually accompanied by a funnel-shaped downward extension of a cumulonimbus cloud
- Wind - Moving air, especially a natural and perceptible movement of air parallel to or along the ground
- Warm Front - A front along which an advancing mass of warm air rises over a mass of cold air
- Cold Front - The leading portion of a cold atmospheric air mass moving against and eventually replacing a warm air mass
