Summary: A/P, O/P. ok, ok, I know, I'm sorry. But just read it, ok? It's funny! I think....
Author Note: After reading all those clones snippets on the archive site, I kind of got ideas....

Ok, so maybe it's wrong. Maybe I shouldn't have done it. But hear me out, ok?

It started like this.

They were just innocent cloners, right? And I just happened to have a lock of Padme's hair. Yeah, she sent it to me. Guess it was meant as a tender gesture. And it was, honestly. I was touched. But to tell you the truth, I'd rather have her dropped outside my door tied with a red ribbon and a note that says, "I miss you". Because, you know, I miss her too. And the uh... conversations we used to have. Honestly.

But anyway, I appreciated the lock of hair, really. It came in handy.

Ok, so, the Kaminoans are a pretty business-minded bunch. Don't get me wrong, they run a great establishment and all, but.... Well, it worked out anyway. I've been doing some mechanical work on the side, selling a few useful tools I've invented. They sell pretty well, and I've been doing it for a few years, so I've got a pretty nice sum of money now.

I mean, I did.

But it went to a good use. Yep, the Kaminoans don't mind a little extra work, a one-clone job. And I certainly don't mind the results.

But see, the problem is this. I didn't know where to put her.

I couldn't put her my quarters. I share them with my Master and they're pretty small. And the walls are really, really thin. But I figured it out. I'm a smart guy. See, I've got her in a hotel room in the lower levels od Coruscant, and that works out pretty well. She's got food and a bed and bathroom and everything, and the walls are extra thick. It's a really classy place, not too many bugs or anything. I think she likes it there. And it'd be perfect, but.... well, it's kind of expensive. And you won't believe the room service she orders.

So I've had to work a little harder, invent a few more things, maybe, you know, borrow some ideas when I run dry. I mean, it's not a bad thing. It's not immoral, or something. I mean, the Force wants me to have Padme. So it um, helps me along. And anyway, if that homeless man doesn't want his ship designs stolen, he should shield his thoughts better. But anyway, that's academic.

But keeping her still costs a lot of money. And I'm so busy making the money, and training with my Master, and acting nonchalant and everything, that I haven't been able to see her at all! Kind of ruins the entire point.

And I think my Master's catching on.

I can't really tell, though. Not for sure. But he gets this weird look in his eyes when he watches me sometimes, and lately his casual questions have become.... not so casual. Kind of probing, actually. But that was ok. I just lay around some false evidence, let him think I'm doing crack or something else harmless like that. But last night, he found the reciept.

I shouldn't have kept it, I really shouldn't have, but.... the Kaminoans offer this great garantee, and this return policy that-- I mean, not that I'd ever want to return her, but.... I mean, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

It doesn't seem so smart now.

Nope, definitely not now, when I'm locked in my room on restriction, and he just got back from rescuing that poor little clone, and....

Damn.

I told you the walls were thin.
