OBAFUNKE AKINKUGBE & CO. was registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission on the 19th of November, 1988 even though it has been in business since 1980. It was founded by Chief (Mrs.) Obafunke Akinkugbe. Mrs. Akinkugbe was called to the English Bar in 1959 and enrolled in 1960 as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. She worked at various times as Legal Adviser to the Federal Ministry of Trade and was a member of Lagos State Land Use and Allocation Committee.

The chambers handle all matters of general litigation but has bias for real estate property matters, and commercial law. Obafunke Akinkugbe & Co., to be more specific handle briefs in the following areas:

We often act as investment and financial advisors to clients and help expatriate clients to handle all immigration matters.

The chambers manages several estates and properties of absentee landlords within South-West Nigeria. We also involve in property development and have through our property company, Jamiesons’ Gate Property (Nigeria) Limited acquired and developed properties within Lagos Island and facilitated the development of a number of properties within Ikoyi and Victoria Island.

K. PETER OYADONGHA, born Lagos, Nigeria, March 2, 1966; admitted 1991, Nigeria. Education: University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt (LL.B., 1990); Nigerian Law School (B.L., 1991) Institute of Maritime Law, Lagos State University 2001 (PGDML) presently doing a Master’s Degree Programme in Maritime Law & Commercial Law at Lagos State University; Member: Nigerian Bar Association, LANGUAGES: English, Yoruba and Ijaw. MRS. O. A. FUNMI-ADESHINA graduated in 1967 with B.Ed. (Hons.) University of Ibadan and in 1994 with LL.B (Hons.) University of Lagos. Admitted in 1995 as a legal practitioner. She is a member Nigerian Institute of Management, had between 1967 and 1980 taught in various Secondary Schools within and outside Nigeria such as the Famous Aunty Ayo Girls Comprehensive School, Lagos and Chevy Chase Co-op School, Bethesda, Maryland, U.S.A. She also held various posts in the Public Ministries such as Chief Inspector of Education, Director of Finance and Administration before she retired from public service on the 15th of January 2003 as a Permanent Secretary. She has since her retirement from active public service been in active legal practice till date. She is also in charge of government related matters and public sector business. MR. GABRIEL O. IBIWOYE graduated 2000 from University of Ilorin and admitted 2002 as legal practitioner and have been in active practice since then.
