I first started getting interested in art of pounding the skins when I watched my cousin play at his house. I was in awe, and like most children will do, I wanted to play the drums. Of course, my parents weren't exactly thrilled upon learning what I wanted to do, so they made me wait...and wait....and wait. Until finally, the Christmas of 2001, we came to an agreement that if I paid for half of my drum set, I could get one. So I saved up, and about a week before Christmas, we saw an add in the penny saver for a used black Pacific Drum Set with one crash/ride cymbal and some hi-hats. That's the set I use today, only I have expanded it to better suit my needs.

Here's an overhead shot of my drumset

Here is a side shot of my drumset.

Some of the drummers I really look up to and hope to emulate one day are Virgil Donati, Simon Phillips, Scott Phillips of Creed, Danny Carey of Tool, Dave Grohl, formerly of Nirvana and now the lead singer of the Foo Fighters, Josh Freese who has worked with 3 Doors Down, A Perfect Circle, and Puddle of Mudd, and Rich Beddoe of Finger Eleven. And of course, I can not fail to mention my drum teacher, Chris Stewart, who is an awesome teacher, but more importantly, a great guy.

Some great drum and music sites and magazines that have helped me a lot are -

I would also like to thank my dad, Don Insley for sharing his office with me and my drum set. I know that I've kicked him out of his office many times so that I could drum. I'd just like to let him know that it is much appreciated.
