The Bucket and the Cork

The Lord took me to a place where there was a bucket filled with water. Floating on top of the water was a cork. The Lord told me to watch the cork. The He told me that as long as the water remained calm both the cork and the water were both at total peace with themselves and with each other. Just then the Lord lifted one side of the bucket and let it drop suddenly. As I watched the water splashing and in great turmoil the Lord told me to keep my eyes on the cork. The Lord told me that even though the water surrounding the cork was in total and utter chaos the cork remained calm and at peace with itself. He pointed out to me how the cork was not trying to fight against the water nor was it attempting to control how the water reacted to being dropped. It is at total peace with itself and the water that surrounds it bobbing up and down as it rides on top of the water.

Then the Lord looked me in the face and He told me that this is the peace our Father gives to each and everyone of us. This is the peace that surpasses human understanding. We are like the cork and the world around us is like the water. When the world around us is calm it is at peace along with us. However when something happens to toss our world into utter and total chaos we are to remain calm and at total peace within ourselves just like the cork. We are not to try and fight back against the world nor are we to try and attempt to control it. Then just as the water eventually calmed down and once again became still and at peace so to will the world around us.

No matter how violent the water gets the natural laws of gravity will eventually always win out over the water. So too no matter how violent the world around us gets the natural Laws of our Father will eventually win out over the situation and they too must submit to His will. Just as gravity controls the water so too Our Father controls the circumstances and situations that arise in our lives. Therefore, we are to trust only in Him and believe totally with all of our hearts that He and not we ourselves are in total control of everything. When we learn how to trust in the Lord and to rely totally upon Him for everything we become like the cork bobbing up and down riding on top of the troubled waters that surround us. We are at total peace with ourselves and within ourselves and most importantly we are at peace with our Father God.
