« The Hunt »

6 am and you ask yourself again why you are here. As the cold becomes intolerable again, three more people come your way. As they line up behind you, glances are exchanged, but not at each other. No, the glances are towards the floor, specifically the kicks on your feet. Looking up, you give each other the "What's up?" head nod. Turning back to look at the front door yet to open, you smile to yourself, remebering what it's about. What it's always been about. The shoes. It's 6:15. two hours and forty-five minutes to go.

Lara Croft, Indian Jones, Alan Quartermaine. Explorers, adventurers, diggers seekers, hunters. Always on the move, out to find their prize. Like these great searchers, your typical sneaker freak is no different. Be it hundreds of miles in a car, 4-6 shops a day, endless phone calls and emails, your average sneaker head is searching as well. Be it the euro Dunk colorway, or newest Air Force One exclusive, the quest to have the rarest, newest, most limited kicks is an ongoing, and quite possibly neverending. The Hunt. To be the first, or the one with the most, the hunt is what drives them. Be it to blow their paychecks in a few short hours, stand in line for hours or spend an entire day all over the city, the determination they have is undaunting. Japan, London, New York to L.A., this sometimes "elitest" subculture grows and thrives in every corner of this world. Young/old, girl/guy makes no difference. As long as their are new styles, colorways, exclusives, and limited editions to cop, the love for the shoe game will go one. A game that I am proud to say have love for.
