Applied Knowledge
is Power

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6

I’m amazed at the negativity found in the body of Christ among Christians. Every denomination seems to lack faith even when the word of God is full of what the Lord is more than able to do. Yet Christians limit God on the daily basis because they lack faith to believe in the blood bought word of God.

Nothing angers me more than a Bible toting, bumper sticker, tape popping, church going, choir singing saints who says, “I just don’t know what I’m going to do…”

When did the cares of this world become your problem?

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7

Faith in God equals trust in your prayers to him. It’s a humbling experience to ask someone for anything, but its even more prideful when you try to do everything yourself.

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Romans 12:3

We each have a measure of faith. To think that we get down on our knees and pray a prayer of faith in one breath only to speak the doubt of the devil in the next is hard for me to comprehend.

When Romans 12:3 says think soberly, I contribute that to thinking like God would think. Not running around wondering, “What to do, what to do?”

Pride sneaks in very easily when we decide that we have to work things out on our own. It’s like, God I know you can do this, but I’m not sure I can trust you to, so I’m going to see what I can do.

That’s pride.

A man's pride shall bring him low: but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit. Proverbs 29:23

Have you ever seen a little kid try to do something themselves?

I use to work with a second grade class. With all kids you have the ones who seem to be able to do almost everything themselves, you have those who don’t want to do anything at all, and then you have the few that you know if you show them how they’ll start to believe they can until they actually do.

I remember this one kid who use to always say, “I can do this all by myself.” He would sit down for like 5 minutes trying to do what he said he could do all by himself. Then after a few minutes he would get frustrated or distracted only to forget about the project at hand. Sometimes he would take it home then come back with the same thing undone. Of course he would get in trouble because his work was incomplete.

So after watching this a few times I decided to sit down with him, even if he insisted on doing it himself. I would show him exactly how to do a similar problem to the ones he had to work on. After several days of sitting him down and showing him how to do his work I learned that he just needed someone to guide him. Once he knew how to do it he could do it on his own.

He became so confident in my showing him the steps to do whatever his assignment was he would come to me right away if he didn’t understand it. His asking for help became easy because he knew I was there to help him.

I believe Christians are very similar to my old student. We try to work everything out ourselves when our first thoughts should be God will work this out for us. We don’t need for Jesus to appear to us to know that God will reward those who diligently seek and believe his word.

We have the Bible to show us the amazing will of God concerning our lives. We train ourselves to live unbelieving lives because we don’t believe that God will do for us. What God did for Moses, Daniel, Esther, Elijah, and so forth.

God is no respecter of persons. Once you come to him through Jesus Christ, all the promises are yours as long as you line up to the word of God.

There is no room for doubt and unbelief if we’re to walk by faith and not by sight. No we can’t always see what God is doing in the spirit. The fact is God is doing something in the spirit that will materialize in the natural. We have to get beyond our flesh and quit trying to see something we already have, stop trying to do something that God has already done.
